Unbelievable lack of respect for our veterans
Discussion
Tou may have seen recent press reports about the latest sorry events at Headley Court, the armed forces rehabilitation centre in Surrey.
Two soldiers, both amputees, were taken to the local public swimming pool as part of their rehabilitation. A lane of the pool was roped off so that they could do lengths (Shamingly, Headley court has no pool long enough for this).
One woman in her thirties complained that they should not have part of the pool closed for them when "She had paid and they hadn't" and another complained that the sight of two men with amputated limbs might scare her children. When the sport centre refused their request to eject the two servicemen and their instructor, the women became so abusive to the servicemen that their instructor ended their training session for fear of violence.
Whatever one thinks of the merits of our two current deployments, this is simply outrageous.
