Nightmare said: Why on earth is yours so high? Is Glasgow dreadful for insurance or are you a doctor or pilot?!

very sorry to hear about car web-dude...am astonished (and now quite worried) that you can write off an S2 at 25mph. It might be worth checking that roundabout v carefully.

I'm a web designer, but my girlfriend is a doctor...is that bad?

I returned to the roundabout and noticed it had a weird cambre ( spelling?) on it...it was like a mini roundabout that was sunken into the road, coming to a 'peak' on the exit...if that makes sense...and it was on the exit when the back end went. Perhaps this, with the rain, and the cold weather didn't help things at all.

I agree that its usually quite easy to catch the elise when it skids, though i had never experienced quite as bad a spin as what happend that night and was unable to catch it at all

Still, think I will get another when the finances allow

I belive that Docotor is actually right at the top of the 'bloody expensive' insurance jobs you can have (or near the top anyway). I think there's a list around somewhere which tells you....anything IT is at the top end of the list (stress related allegedly). I wanted to say I was a gardener on my form but I think I might have trouble convincing anyone....

Insurance - I pay £540 a year with 'More Than', I'm 36 with full no claims and no points....so far! Oh, and I work in I.T. I'm well happy with my premiums although I want to get a sports exhaust fitted and I don't think they'll insure me if I do that.

Very strong chance that the camber change unsettled the car

Gutted for you anyway.

It sounds like the exact same thing happened to me in my s2 in august! it had been raining on a warm day, came off the roundabout and then straightened up - I'm sure i didn't use the throttle and the back end went. no room to straighten up. i hit a high kerb, then some railings and the underside of the car slid along the raised kerb. front and rear damage and the chassis was bent slightly. i was only going about 30 max. repair bill was estimated to be 19K! I've tested it in the wet before, but this happened out of the blue. finally got the insurance replacement one last week. I'm currently stuck on 46 miles as i'm working away until xmas
