Hi John .. the little 3.6 has been the most reliable engine we've ever had, no other sp6 engine has lasted a whole season .. so it's a case of better the devil you know smile Plus plenty of other people are pushing bigger capacities and exotic cam control strategies, albeit at a price. I'm interested in seeing what the 3.6 can do as much as a technical excercise as anything. There's little point in me competing directly against the likes of tvr power and racing green, I just can't afford the time and money those guys pour into their r and d. So there's many reasons for sticking with the 3.6, it's been a cracking little engine for us so far. touch wood smile
I'm pleased someone else loves the 3.6. I think it's the best of the bunch for character. A really sweet engine.

Did you ever speak to Colin about their plans for a 3.6 screamer? With their workload I wondered if they could be tempted to support a project like this?

So now you know why melling designed the 3.5 ajp 6 engine !! and for those who are intrested its possible
to build a short stroke 4.0 litre wich would have the benifits of both engines ? ive run the numbers on my dyno program stock head but my cams 410 bhp@ 7000 rpm and 350 ftlbs torque @ 5000 rpm.

Hi Jim I am having the full cylinder head upgrade, with GTS profile cams GT springs etc, New bearings on the bottom end with a lightened and ballanced crank and the Omex ECU. There is nothing wrong with my current SP6 its a 2004 and only covered 25K I just wanted a bit more power.

Dave I will agree with the biscuit thing
But I would like chock hobnobs
Chris told me yours will be ready 9th march
So you can have a month of eating cookies while you wait
The extra 4 weeks is course of all the faults
That they will have to put right for the MOT
Ha ha ha

Hi Dan As I said in my previous post there is nothing wrong with my current engine. When they have the head off they will inspect the pistons and when they replace the crank and bearings they will inspect the conrods. If these are ok everything will be replaced/upgraded apart from the conrods and pistons. If there are signs of wear in the boars and piston rings (hopefully not) I will go for the full 3.7 conversion with Ross Racing pistons etc.

Don1 I was at the Hampshire TVR Club meet today, are you a member?

Regards
Don

Hi Don, no I'm not a member (long story), but happy to meet up and say hello at meets.
Also, can I remark how strange it is to be addressing someone with my own name - it's quite strange! When we do meet I think our professions might also be quite a talking point...

Hope to meet you out on the roads this year.

Hi Don yes it is strange I will adopt my full name of Donald as my Mother still calls me ha ha!

I look forward to catching up some time, I gained some stone chips today on the run out, I think she will stay in the garage until the spring now, although she will be at RND for a couple of weeks.

Hi Jim

I've not decided yet I still need to make a visit to RND and see their set up but basically it's between them & Power so either 4.1 or 4.3 I guess but I need to make a decision soon as I need to get the car down there!
