Hi,

I`ve been reading various posts and most seem to agree that the S6 is lacking oil over the top-end during the first seconds of start-up (seem as high as ~10 seconds).

Does a pre-oiler exist for the S6? I remember reading a post where someone had such a system on a Sagaris but I cannot find it now.

Would this is a complex thing to do or make? I`m an engineer so if its a pump, tubing, electrical cabling (even with cut out timer) and a bit of drilling I think I can manage..

Thanks for any advice,

KJ

Thanks for the amazing fast response!

Does anyone know of the details for this kit (what it includes)? Is it complex to install and will it really improve life? (or is the £2k better saved for a rebuild down the line)

One final question as I`m not so 'up' on engine internals (at the moment!) - I assume the oil injector sprays the oil over the top-end. Why is located at one end of the engine and not the middle?

Thanks, KJ.

Hi L1OFF,

When your fitting this kit can you possibly do a 'how-to' guide for us newbie's to the S6? i`ve seen the various pre-oilers on the web and was wonder is it as simple as a bolt on (I`m a engineer with electronic/software/mechanical experience - just not experience of engines yet smile )

Thanks

KJ

Simple enough really, my backgroung is similar to yours but I had an older brother who was a mechanic (sadly no longer with us) so I grew up with car engines.
Good idea with the "how to" must dust of the digital camera.

woohoo
Sounds like a great idea wink Anything that extends the life of my (soon to be) S6 engine will be great!

Why is £1700.00 being banded about on here ?
It was quoted at the start of the thread, I think thats the only reason.

Does anyone have a real figure?

If a cut out switch was installed to stop the engine firing and you then turned the engine over on the key, is this not a simple pre oiling system that has the same effect.

A pre oiler for £50.00.
The ECU stops the engine firing until the oil pressure is up, hence the slightly biggrin extended cranking times!

I`m a big hobbiest software/hardware engineer and I always wondered would it be possible to fit a cheap spray bar above the engine.

The idea would be to syphon off a little oil (~250ml) when the engine is first cranked (as the PSI is high) and then store this. When the engine is restarted simply release this over the spray bar and repeat.

This would allow the top-end to be showered in oil from the very start..

Now, I`m not engine expert (big notive to be honest) so this might not work.. but i`m waiting on why from some gurus smile
