Thanks (again) Chris. Did you have to set up the camera to do anything for this? Or does it automatically set to go into this mode when it's left plugged to a (continuous) power source?
Apologies if you're repeating yourself and it's earlier in this thread. Couldn't be a*sed to wade through 87 pages of arguments about correct terminology of unladen weights or something!

To be quite honest, I can't remember. I am assuming not, as I didn't even know about this feature until looking through the recorded footage- it must be on by default.Apologies if you're repeating yourself and it's earlier in this thread. It's the 'motion detect' feature that you need to turn on, to only record when something moves in the field of view.
The 801 can store about 5 hours of full resolution video on a 32GB card, and this is the largest card you can fit, so just leaving it on loop will only allow you to capture stuff that happened in the last 5 hours.
From memory I think the camera draws about 2 amps at 5v, which will mean around an amp from the 12v supply - so you can get an idea as to how long you can run it for from the Ah capacity of your battery.

Could you clarify please as I've seen this and not sure if it is the motion detect command?0801 Camera Instructions said:
4.15 Motion Detect
Use strictly only when the car is not moving. When set to On, this option will start the camera recording the instant it "sees" something move infront of the lens. When movement infront of the lens stops, the camera will also stop recording (after a few seconds). It will then wait again until motion occurs infront of the lens, whereupon it will start recording again. This cycle continues indefinitely.
The usual setting for this is OFF, because the camera is primarily designed as a driving security recorder as opposed to a parking security device. If you set this to be ON, then you must remember to set it back to OFF before driving, as the constant motion of driving will conflict with the camera and may cause it to fail.
IMPORTANT NOTE. If you put the camera into motion detection mode (ON), it will begin recording as soon as it is turned on and there is motion in the field of view. This means that if you are holding it in your hand, the chances are that it will move, thus making it start recording. The menu cannot be accessed when the camera is recording, so if you need the menu, you will need to press the OK button to stop it recording, then the UP arrow to display the menu. However you are likely to move the camera BEFORE you get the chance to press the UP arrow - thus making it start recording again. To get around this difficulty in accessing the menu due to the camera recording in motion detection mode (ON), cover the lens with your hand so that the camera cannot "see", press the OK button whilst it is recording, then still with the lens completely covered, press the UP arrow to access the menu and turn motion detection OFF.

That's a lot more info that the manual that comes with the camera...

...which basically tells you that 'motion detect' can be turned on or off.
I've not used it myself as I said, as I don't want to miss footage while the camera decides to start recording (I just leave in on loop), but was suggesting that it was the setting to use if you want to leave the camera in a parked car for extended periods, and not be limited to the approx. 5 hour storage limit.

Does anyone have any experience of the Transcend DrivePro 200?

I need to get one fitted ASAP. If Just to show you muppets I see all the time
Joovuu will ignore you if you have any problems with it. There was a discussion about them in the comments on a Mobius video review somewhere and their customer service is great while you're handing them your cash but forget any kind of aftersales service or help if the product goes wrong. Before I pre order one are they a reputable dealer?

Hmmm that's why I'm procrastinating. I keep reading about failures I'm also wondering if there are fakes around
I currently have an 0803 in my amazon basket supposedly in stock all n for £65 no internal memory or gps. From somewhere called e prance.
But it's so much cheaper than anywhere else I'm wondering if it's genuine.

Eprance are a trusted vendor as far as I am aware.
I bought mine from them, on December 30th. It arrived yesterday!!In fairness it looks like a Royal Mail issue. However, they did play me on eBay, big time. So one word, careful you are in on expected delivery date as their courier agent is a nightmare.

Near miss today on M606 Chain Bar roundabout.
Left hand lane should keep left, right hand lane can take middle or right...all signposted and lettered on road.
BMW decides to carve us up, lucky nothing to right of us, then they roll down window and shout verbal abuse for some reason.
http://youtu.be/8lGBEtwykNY
longer clip to show lane markings beforehand
http://youtu.be/vZ7I8LvgZ3o
If we had collided then the BMW would claim we changed lanes into them,
whereas the video shows what really happened.

I fitted the mobius to the other car while i'm waiting for the 0803(never got around to fitting it to the 300 just couldn't get it mounted properly.
not really a near miss for me but he was very close to the car in front and he had to force his way in front of the car he overtook on double whites.(mind you if he had crashed i probably would have been caught up in it at that closing speed)
couple of things i noticed as its only the first time i've checked the camera since fitting it a few days ago.
1)quality isn't good enough to read the cars number plate
2)it took me ages to find the clip
3)i sound like a right dick I repeated because my daughter said what from the back shes learning to drive so im pointing things out to her anyway.

But....
I had another near miss at the start of the journey very similar to the one above, car changing lanes. which clearly showed he was in the other lane before forcing me to avoid him. so its about time i sorted out the whole fleet i think.
