Not an expert with jammers though this link might be of use: http://www.radarbusters.com/radarjammerintroarticl...

It's the reason I opted for the mini coyote - which works great for mobile sites (but it's not out in blighty for a week or so)

I'm getting the TomTom 540 Live in December, but apparently the Speed Camera database isn't very good.

People have recommended getting the GPSWorld camera database, is that right?

Just a quick question, the TomTom 540 Live updates itself due to it having a simcard and that, do I have to manually update the GPSWorld stuff?

I wonder if the French coyote's will work in the UK now (and vice versa)or if they only work in the country you pay your monthly sub to??

...subscribe to the scamera database on pocketgpsworld - it's updated regularly and IMHO the database is excellent.

The UK Mini Coyote with the 'Novus' database is the only one that will work in the UK, don't buy a french version if you want it to work in the UK as it wont.

UK versions can be ordered from here

please email me if you have any questions about this unit.

Yep, poketgps world is the dogs danglies. I tried the tomtom one and its innacurate and sometimes gets its knickers in a twist. With Pocketgps you download voices so It will tell you the limit as you approach the camer and what type of camera it is (gatso, mobile or red light).

I got my parents to get the SatNav for me for Christmas, the 540 Live so that saved me a little bit of money hehe

Very helpful thread smile Can someone tell me which TT is the least expensive model with the facility to download scamera data - and even better where to get one from? Thanks. Also any idea of cost of the GPS world downloads appreciated...

Cheapest one would be the TT One at about £100.

PocketGPSWorld scamera database costs £2 a month, or currently about £17 a year.

How do you activate the voices to give the limit then?
I know the icon gives speed limit and type, it's just if the voices could give the limit it's safer as you don't have to watch the screen when it beeps.

The main feature the TT 540 adds over the 530 is the 'Live' feature, the main benefit of which is the constantly updated Road Angel database. It is probably too soon to know how good this feature is, and Live costs £8 per month after a free three month trial. If you are not going to use Live, why would you get a 540 rather than a 530?

I'm going to try the free trial of it.. And see how it is. If it's rubbish, i'll just get the PocketGPSWorld one and not use the live.

I got the 540 because of the constantly updating. I might even use the Live & PocketGPS together if thats possible?

I presume you would get double warnings - and be driven mad! Your plan to try the free Live trial sounds sensible. My son is doing this at the mo with a 940 - too early to conclude.

Road Angel are now selling their data to Tom Tom for the X40 product
So obviously Tom Tom believe Road Angel data is hands down the best camera data.

EFA hehe

Pocketgpsworld data is not available through any other commercial organisation - I believe that's how they want it to stay

Has anyone tried the 'Road Pilot' ?

I was speaking with a chap the other day who says he has one and it has the garage door opener/lazer jammer included.
If this is the case, it sounds quite good.

IIRC the lazer speed camera throws a fault when it 'sees' a jammer like that. Then you get nicked as they are highly illegal. Go straight to jail and say hello to soap on a rope with bubba....

Without sounding inflammatory.

How would they ever know? A camera van wont pull you, and a bobby with a lazer gun wont know you dont have an electric garage door.

...and you wouldnt go to prison, for that Im sure.
