I have been using Waze for a month or so after being recommended it by a colleague.

Very very good, I like the live reporting of incidents and community based updates.

Last week I also had a problem with it saying that I had just joined but I thought that was because I had just wiped my phone and reinstalled it.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to pre-download maps as in Google Maps, to conserve mobile data.

Personally I prefer CoPilot (but then that was £25), but it isn't a bad app. I have joined the PH group (last night) but not expecting to see anybody from it on the roads!

Actually, to be honest, when I need to get somewhere and need reliable nav I borrow my wife's TomTom 710! I find all mobile device ones inherently unreliable unfortunately, and they monster the battery.

I just searched PistonHeads!

I got sick of buying car chargers on ebay that only charged at USB rate - run GPS + screen and the battery still discharges!

Thats cause most USB eBay car chargers can only charge non-apple products at 500mA rather than the 1A that they need. Its to do with the Data lines connection.

Either mod the charger yourself or get an original HTC/Samsung charger and you should be ok.

I think there's a mileage limit per trip on what it'll route, 300 miles seems to be in my head

I dont think that was the main plan for it to be honest, IIRC it started off as a local traffic app involving routing. I guess as it gets more developed then that limit could be lifted

Downloaded this a few weeks ago and it is pretty good. It warned me this morning about heavy traffic on route as I started driving. I've left it to one of the standard voices though, the voices that say street names aren't as good an audio quality, and make a right mess of saying the Welsh street and place names hehe
