I recently drove through France, Switzerland and Italy with some mates, and bought the latest European maps from Tom Tom, plus updated the software on my One V2. Unfortunately it kept getting 'lost' - thinking it was in the middle of some random field when I was actually on an established major road. I managed to get some shots as evidence, and sent an email to Tom Tom over 2 weeks ago. And I've still heard no reply. I told them I was disappointed and wanted a full refund of the maps (£60) in return for me deleting them. I also told them how well my friends Garmin performed throughout, so we ended up following him.

Am I right to be upset at this? It's not the best thing having Tom Tom tell me to "turn around where possible" while halfway down a motorway or dual-carriageway!

Ah, they emailed an old account of mine... still bloody useless though!

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support

The maps of Italy and Switzerland are covered to the same percentage as the UK maps are. Infact, those 2 countries are 2 of TomTom's biggest markets in Europe. There will be cases where you will find errors in all of our maps but not to the degree that you have mentioned in your email. It sounds to me like you were having some sort of GPS fix issue which was causing the issue which can be resolved by updating the software on your device with TomTom Home.

Also, it may be worth noting that when you purchase maps either through Home or on our website, you must agree to the terms and conditions of the sale prior to completing the order which state that maps are non refundable. There are no exceptions to this rule if the maps have been installed and activated.

With Best Regards, The TomTom Customer Support Team

So I've just responded:

I'm sorry, but that is simply not a good enough response. I performed a full software update from Tom Tom Home (did you check this before advising me?!) and still had all of these problems.

Please explain how on earth I was to know just how poor your maps/software would be prior to installing and activating them? If I had known just how useless your maps/software were going to be do you really think I would have activated them? If this is your final response then your level of customer service is appalling and you have just passed another customer over to Garmin.

C*nts.
