How to turn Right
Discussion
You missed another one OP.
Adopt the correct right turning position. Indicating right. Nobody behind so not holding anyone up.
Then be irritated by the jokers coming the other way, who stop intending to be kind by furiously flashing at you to turn, completely ignoring the several vehicles following them that they have caused to stop.
Have given up trying to resist and now make my turn. No doubt one day one of them will be a crash for cash merchant.

"..box for turning right.." "..sit up at an angle to block an extra foot of road.."
Have you driven through Headington, Oxford? There are a few spots where the council have marked out boxes for turning right, set at an angle to occupy more road space. Not only that, but they've put them so far over to the right into the path of oncoming traffic, you have to be very brave (or intent on making an insurance claim) to actually use them.

I have sat with over 4,500 taxi drivers here in Manila. Only one would have passed the UK test. His name is Victor. Ask for him if you ever come here, as you will have nothing to rant about.
If he came here, he would be in the top 1%.Edited by 911hope on Thursday 28th September 09:01

Have driving schools or similar changed the better way to turn right off a main road?
It used to be place the vehicle with the offside wheels close to or of the diving white line check fir traffic and make the turn. Indicating all the while.
Today it seems the better way is to stop in the middle of the carriage way perhaps indicate seems optional
Hold up traffic behind and when the road is clear for at least 2 minutes make the turn as slowly and deliberately as possible. Giving the finger to all who dint fully understand your expertise.

Since I experience more old people driving like that than young I doubt it. It used to be place the vehicle with the offside wheels close to or of the diving white line check fir traffic and make the turn. Indicating all the while.

I've observed that young drivers are amongst the most courteous these days.
