I was accosted at the Porsche festival at Brands Hatch last August by someone from the IAM and asked if I would be interested in joining. Said yes, filled out paperwork but have heard not a dicybird since.

If you've already paid, then I suggest you contact IAM Head Office on 0208 996 9600. If you've not yet paid, then you might better enjoy a couple of on-road days with the likes of Cadence (www.cadence.co.uk or 01949 844 449) or RideDrive (www.ridedrive.co.uk ).

I joined my local IAM group a few weeks ago and they are fantastic! I think it depends on the area but I've already been invited to a skid-pan day and they seem to arrange a lot of events outside of preparing for "the test".
