Can I ask what the MO is when you are instructing in a vehicle over the speed limit and you come across a marked police vehicle?
Do you slow / turn off or carry on regardless?

I wonder if TrafPol ever fail to recognise his car and realise it is being used for a police purpose....and pull him?
On second thoughts, they probably couldn't catch him.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

I was thinking that there must be occasions when Von is out of county and is spotted by other TrafPol (and MOP's, too) - I just wondered what they do when they find themselves in this predicament.

Incidentally, Von himself (as he has often explained) isn't, and never has been, TrafPol. As for being seen driving in an 'interesting' manner by MOP - I expect they'd raise their eyebrows a bit, and that'll be all. If anybody feels sufficiently miffed to note a number plate (assuming they're quick enough to do so!) and make a complaint, I'm sure it will all be explainable.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Might be nothing to do with this at all, in which case please ignore me.
Best wishes all,
Dave.
Ancient though I am, I read this while listening to the Manics.
Lots of worthwhile comment in their musical constructions.
Then I remember a "Sergeant Speed", who appeared here, for a short time.
He was challenged, in a friendly way, including from me.
What you have to accept is that there are those who are given liberty to ignore all Traffic Laws.
In the service of those who govern us.
Or those who are above us.
What Democracy?.

For some reason I can't get that link to work, but is it the case of the County Durham Police Driver Training bod who was exploring areas of Scotland with a view to future training sessions up there, and got caught at very high speed. If it is, apparently he'd got clearance to explore certain areas at high speed for assessment purposes, but then strayed into an area for which he hadn't got clearance - and promptly got nicked!
Might be nothing to do with this at all, in which case please ignore me.
Best wishes all,

I shouldn't be disclosing this information - but there is a sign that unmarked police cars give to marked police cars when passing at speed, to let them know not to pursue or stop them. By showing them one finger (it has to be your middle finger) as you pass the marked car, you are essentially telling them "I'm a Class 1 driver", and they won't attempt to stop you.
Also, if you make the police car aware that you know Von, (by displaying a V sign with your fingers as you pass), you'll be good for speeds up to 150mph.
