Putting everything aside, why do some people insist on positioning in the left lane to take the "straight on" (for simplicities sake) exit, but indicate right?!
I do "Fleet" training as an ADI. Many of my customers come from countries outside of the UK.
many of these countries do not have roundabouts like we do, or the training on how to use them.
Many have just "exchanged" their licence for a UK one without having taken a UK driving test. There are many hundreds , or even hundreds of thousands of these drivers on the roads.
I did 6 "taxi driver assessments" today, and two of them did this, one made a car brake thinking he was going to change lanes i front of him (he failed).
My suggestion is to drive very defensively on roundabouts....if they are signalling... don't trust them, if they are not signalling you have no idea where they are going ....so don't trust them either

It is very frustrating watching people come up to a roundabout, then slow to stop or stop when there is nothing there to their right, then give a misleading signal.
It is our roads today, but, there is one of us out there trying to educate these people to do what it is right on debriefs from failed assessments. Again many do not take the advice and fail again, and again for similar "faults". We are trying .

A right hand indicator should never be used on a roundabout.Mammasaid said:

It's not just the highway code; it's convention and custom. Sometimes there are things you probably don't want to even when "correct" because they're not customarily done (for example, correct horn use may often not be the best idea, as horns are customarily used to admonish rather than warn in this country and correct use may have more downsides than upsides). But the vast majority of people will use an indicator to show that they're turning right at a roundabout. Do some people use it in other circumstances? Sure. An obvious example is when you make a mistake and find yourself in the wrong lane and drivers are going to expect you to exit, you obviously want to convey your intentions in any way you can.
