How to turn Right

Have driving schools or similar changed the better way to turn right off a main road?
It used to be place the vehicle with the offside wheels close to or of the diving white line check fir traffic and make the turn. Indicating all the while.
Today it seems the better way is to stop in the middle of the carriage way perhaps indicate seems optional
Hold up traffic behind and when the road is clear for at least 2 minutes make the turn as slowly and deliberately as possible. Giving the finger to all who dint fully understand your expertise.
