I'm good enough to know i'm no good - so where do i start?

So where do I begin to learn to really drive?

I'm 41, drive a 4ltr Chimeara, I have booked a Ride Drive day but want to really get into track days etc.

Any advice, no matter how obvious you may think would be gratefully received.
