Of course need to check if you have a shifter socket before ordering

http://www.keislerauto.com/gm/gm-bare-transmission...

There is a install instructions on line so you can see what you need

this thread has body off images for LS cerb t56.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

a few dims for comparison, but i have no idea if the cerb uses a remote shifter like the griff/chim does with a t5.

You have a Monaro box which has an additional reAr shift link. That can be removed but you will need to end up with a mid shift conversion on the t56 or get a 6060 which is set up for that

I guess the mid-shift is the most cost optimised when i already have the vxr T56...

Looks like a quality job! I measured today. From the back of the LS engine to where the T5 gearstick comes up is +/- 68cm. This would mean that the stick has to come up just in front of the original baseplate of the T56 (rear) location. Is this strange? Putting in a midshift conversion would mean that it is further off.
no, that is about right, but that puts the shifter straight into the chassis rails directly infront of the handbrake, and using the shifter in the rear mount fouls the handbrake.

using the mid shift means you use a rear offset shifter to get the shift handle back to the correct location, without fouling the chassis.

decided to get one of these for the tam, seen some in the flesh, and think they suit the interior better than the standard wheel...had considered getting the original one trimmed, but as theyre on offer from momo at the moment....

spent an hour crawling under the car measuring fuel lines...wonder if i can pull a new braided line through the transmission tunnel between the fibreglass and heat mat like the old one ???

also ordered a new ali header tank...hoped to use the tvr one but the more i look, it doesn't really have much expansion room over the fluid level.

pulled new braided fuel lines in place of old, in the gap between temp mat and tunnel, bit fiddly, but done, also got a clutch hose made up, and ordered a new throttle cable to suit the LS

might have to rethink header tank....quote of 80 went north to 180 for no bloody reason. hate it when folk mess me about...but happy with momo, ordered yesterday, arrived and fitted today

just had to redrill the mount for the paddle buttons on wheel.

i can see through the spokes and see the back of the steering wheel buttons, going to have to think of a method to hide those, maybe just covering the switch mount backs in leather???

before

after

finished off the fuel lines today, and tacked up a pair of engine mounts, these will take a poly bush engine mount, and i will need to put a couple tabs on the chassis to mount to to keep them as far away from exhaust as possible. they are infront and lower than the exhaust, so hopefully wont suffer too much like the sped 6 ones which are right in among the exhaust headers.

its a little tight, but all fits. will need to protect the bushes with heat mat, as will the starter

Also managed to fit alternator, throttle cable, and most water pipes

As this is wet sump, I wont have an oil tank in front, so will place a kn type filter there, suitably shielded from the rad, to draw cold air from under the front of the car

good day in the garage today

6060 shifter comes up a little forward of the t5 position,

an offset lever like the one i used in the griff is available,

so have made a cover for that to keep things tidy. the whole thing sits under the stock transmission cover easily

gutting these (ls7 headers) a bargain at $30

gets me this.

plus this

..just waiting on an oval to round collector to arrive. theyre actually stainless undeer the crud.

tacked up the gearbox mount

finished off the engine mounts...just tacked up at the moment

and the chassis part of the mount...(these are just loosely dropped on the chassis at the moment, but hold the engine in situ even without being welded.

next step is a trip to welded to get it all finish welded.

Missed this - make sure that you have a plate under the car, shielding the bottom of the filter from the road. You wouldn't believe how much crap gets hoovered up...
Thanks had planned on using ali sheet infront of the filter to prevent rad heat entering directly, so i could add a plate under the filter so that air is drawn from only from behind or the sides, preventing any moisture or other crud directly getting to the filter.

also wondered about a foam sleeve....but havent found one yet to suit.

I have a Ramair dustbin sized thing - I'll get a pic tomorrow if that helps? Personally I'd think about going for the Topcats filter coming out of the wing. I know it's on my potential list...
i thought about that, but it draws air from the wheel , which must be laden with moisture off damp or wet roads thrown up from tyres, even if its not raining....

but im not certain
