Picking my V90CC up Tuesday. Current car isn’t getting collected for 3 weeks but I can’t wait any longer. I’m like a giddy kid.
Dealer confirmed I’ll get 5 days free insurance too. So seems it might be 5 or 7 just depends I guess. Also the car will be registered on the day I collect too.

Slight overlapping of cars on the insurance too with waiting for current one to go back but my insurer has said the policy would go onto the new car and they’d carry on insuring the current one free of charge for 2 weeks on some temporary insurance. Works out perfect for me timing wise.

ot surprisingly, if you have your own SIM installed - what about if you take it out though?

Having had a BMW with RTTI previously, the built-in SIM did that and the on-call stuff. It would be a shame if Volvos have a built-in SIM but only for on-call.
In-built SIM only does on call, you have to fit a data sim for RTTI to work. Alternatively enable bluetooth tethering on your phone and it just works automatically when your phone connects.

Fuel consumption is pretty awful though for a modern petrol with all of the tech theyre loaded with these days and the small tank doesnt help.
I am averaging 33mpg overall according to onboard computer, get just under 40 on a motorway run at 70 ish but shocking around town. I agree with the small tank, in conjunction with the economy it seems like I'm always filling it up.

One thing that bugs me is the noise, sounds like a diesel. It makes my recent holiday hire cars sound refined, considering they were a vauxhall mokka and a renault clio that is saying something. If I leased one again it would have to be a diesel as there is no compelling reason for this petrol engine. Rest of the car is good though.

My car was delivered to-day, S90 T4 R Design in Osmium Grey, driven to my door, so has 260 or so miles on the clock. It is a LOT bigger then the Golf GTi it has replaced, on the plus side, the delivery of the Volvo and collection of the VW both happened to-day within 5hrs.
Parking sensors are a bit late to the party when telling you that you are close to something, but maybe my car needs the April updates, unless the dealerships would have done that for all of the recent cars as a matter of course.

Quite amusing was advising the insurers of the change of vehicle, even with the £25 admin fee, and the fact the S90 is about £40k value, I am due a £7.30
refund! Obviously the Volvo is seen as a slightly more pipe and slippers affair compared to the GTi.

Amazing amount of space front and back, and the boot is HUGE, obviously I am used to hatchbacks, but still.

I drove one of those a few days ago and the interior was lovely . A Huge car but didn’t feel that big on the road. The co pilot feature was very very good. The only rub was it really needed a bigger engine.

I will have had my V90 CC for a year this week. Received in the post from Santander a statement showing I have to pay an extra £18 for the increased VED. I wasn’t expecting this; my last lease was with Lex and the VED was included in the hire for the whole duration.

Looking back at my order form (broker, not Santander) it says VED is included for the duration so I might have a brief discussion with Santander. It’s a bit annoying having to pay VAT on top of the £15 VED increase, for a start.

Picked my CC up this morning, coming from a 17 plate xc60 t5, first impressions are night and day, seems far more luxurious and can’t bieve this is £272 a month, a steal! I went stock, black/black but on arrival at the dealer the showroom car was silver and it looked ace. A bit of brake dust on the 18s and hopefully it settle down a bit. The silver contrast with black trim just ‘worked’ to my eye but I never got to see one in the flesh before ordering.

Still, seemingly unbelievable value for what seems and excellent car. Whilst same engine as xc60 seems much quieter and more refined. Leg room in back is mega, I’m 6’1 and my daughter could have a party behind my seat.

So far, very happy... those collecting soon won’t be disappointed!

Done a fair few miles in the V90 CC now after picking it up recently. Coming from a Golf R estate so could not be much more different. Obviously not fair to compare as not really competing products but the relief from the harsh ride in the Golf is lovely. The V90 is just like my lounge sofa on wheels.
Drive it entirely in Eco as it seems plenty brisk enough in that. No sign of any hesitancy from the gearbox that has been mentioned previously. Currently averaging 36mpg which seems acceptable. Nice and cheap to insure at £190 for the year. Steering is not too sharp but that is as expected having got used to the Golf. Also, the huge door mirrors are not easy to see around so visibility past them seems poor especially when in town. Not sure why Volvo felt the need for such a huge housing for them. I guess I will get used to them.
Overall quite happy to have it for the 18 months I signed up for at £272 per month.

Had my s90 for a week now, this is my 1st lease. one of the things I do remember is that VED is included, however they base that on no VED increases during the life of the lease, if there is an increase the renter is liable for the increase amount only.

Found a security flaw:

Car is locked, you open the boot from the button on the keyfob and you then close it from either the key or the button on the boot lid.

The boot STAYS UNLOCKED thereafter despite the doors being locked and despite the On Call smart phone app reporting the car is locked. You MUST lock the car again from the keyfob to lock the boot again. Not a big deal but behaves differently to every other car I've owned.

Yes, totally normal PCH practice. My last two leases from two different providers have passed on a small VED increase charge after a year.

It's a feature to ensure you don't accidentally lock your keys in your boot.

My most worrying finding with the pilot assist is the fact that you are happily cruising along, giving the wheel a nudge every now and then as instructed, happy days.

Then when it decides it can no longer cope, lines disappear, or reflection on the roads surface etc, it turns auto assist off, but doesn't bloody tell you so, the green steering wheel on dash goes grey, and the first you know of it is when you panic its heading towards the next lane or kerb!

surely an audible bong would be sensible here to let you know you have full control again?

After a lifetime of waiting, finally picked up the S90 yesterday afternoon (on a disgusting day of weather, sadly!). My dealer at Mill Volvo Newcastle was lovely throughout and had a full handover lasting just over an hour with a demonstration of the infotainment system, the car itself, got both keys in a nice presentation box - couldn’t fault him at all.

Drove it straight down to West Yorkshire from Newcastle - smooth, quiet and very comfortable.

I’m not very good at taking pictures but I’ve attached a few. Think I might have to get slightly classier car mats, haha.
Looks excellent. I’ve just had a note through to say mine has arrived early - hallelujah!

Looks like yours is parked outside Saltaire Mills - if so you’re just around the corner.

I had my car in for a service and after the software update, its all change - audible warnings, pilot assist will cut out if you don't respond (so you notice the car starts to decelerate) and the green light also can go amber, followed by red.

Woohoo, bet you're looking forward to picking it up!

Correct, good spot - though I'm moving to the Manchester area next month! Maybe I'll see you wafting around in your new toy before I leave?!

Ha possibly. I’ll give the obligatory doff of the cap if I do!

Did you manage to sort reasonable insurance in the end? I’ve just requested a quote from my existing provider (Quote me Happy) and they came in and just under £400 which I thought was very good considering the vehicle value.

Also, did you go with GAP?

There aren't many S90s around so I will do the same and hope it's you!

I'm with Esure until the third week of July so just extended my current insurance - they charge £30 for the extra 8 or 9 weeks they were covering (plus their annoying £26 admin fee!!) so lets see what their renewal quote comes back as. Comparison sites weren't looking favourable mind : ( Not sure that moving to a Manchester address will help either (though Bradford isn't great, obviously!).

I did in the end - used ALA and the 25% code that was posted on here and ended up paying about £115 all in one go for two year cover and up to £2000 initial deposit cover. Worth it for peace of mind I think (also got a dash cam).

No mine does that too, but thats the lack of concentration one, gives you amber - red dong - red dong - loud triple beep when switched off.

Im talking about when the car decides it cant cope anymore, due to lack of road markings or rain in the road etc, it just silently switches off auto steering and next thing you know your crossing lines without knowing why irked

Oh and another question, my 3 sim with the 200mb of data, its arrived, ive popped it in the car but doesn't seem to work, so assume it needs registering to get the 200mb of data

However to register it you need to visit three.co.uk/freedata while connected using the sim.

My mobile is locked to EE, and the car obviously doesn't have a browser

So how do I register the sim?

I agree, very annoying when you suddenly start going in a straight line instead of round a bend.
