The Volvo S90/V90 lease thread
Discussion
Thankfully, I collected mine today. T4 Petrol is really nice, very quiet indeed.
There also seems to be some updates as the pilot assist now puts you plumb in the middle of the lane (was a little to the left on my 2017 car test drive) and the transmission is even silkier as you approach roundabouts etc. Might be the T4 influence but probably another software update here too.

Perforated leather keys and dedicated box for them is a nice touch
Interior just oozes quality

One of the nicest touches it’s whats on the seat belt buckle.
One of many nice touches Yes, T4 is grand for such a big car. I had d4 for 2 days and not much difference. T4 is quieter, d4 more efficient, responsiveness is good for both. Gearbox even better than my test drive as well as improved pilot assist- probably software enhancements.
Currently sitting at 33mpg after 200ish miles.

That's odd....mine is v90 petrol. Maybe they fit different tyres to diesel or s90 models?I was delighted to find the p zeros, they review well

How does it sit on the 18s? I was worried the car would need the 20s to fill the arches..
Wow...The gift that keeps on giving....
I'm pretty sure these were an option, the led sill lights
And the back doors too
Another bonus is the led strip lights underneath the silk metal strips that go along the dash and all 4 door cards. Very subtle, put on high intensity for a brighter look. I wasn't sure I r design got these.
Dash
Door card
Floor lighting too
And you can select which colour the ambient light is. Example of blue and green

20's would look great, 18 just about passes. I'm always mindful of giving up comfort for bigger alloys so a bit of a trade off. Plus I didn't want to spend extra either! How does it sit on the 18s? I was worried the car would need the 20s to fill the arches..

My car arrived today. Really happy with it! A decent amount of power and, after a long Mway journey followed by another 100 or so miles of mixed driving, it's showing 46mpg.
For a car of this size, that's brilliant MPG. On another note - I brought the car into work today and loads of people were talking about it/asking me about it. I reckon if it was a BMW/Merc/Audi they would have a different reaction but because its a Volvo, there's no real 'car envy' going on - people just look at it and say, wow, that's beautiful - can I have a look inside.
One particular guy who loves his cars wanted to go for a spin (he changed to audi a couple of weeks back despite being a Merc guy - he had the S-Class no less) and he said its the best car he's ever driven - even better than the s class. Just the whole appearance, interior finish, gearbox, steering, handling, comfort - the whole package combined just makes it an better car. High praise indeed. I'm not surprised at all though. I may be biased as an owner, but I thought the same a few months ago when I had my 1st test drive. Volvo have knocked it out of the park with these cars.
My S90 D4 on 12k miles gets 50mpg easily on an average trip. If you're stuck in a 50-55 mph road works section on the motorway you can see 70mpg. It really is very frugal.
It's not well calibrated - on slowing for a junction then accelerating away it now jerks as the power it taken up. Just needs decent calibration to stop the freewheeling and then sudden take up. It has got worse over time. The gear change can also be a bit slow even in dynamic mode, put your foot down and it changes down one gear, tries to accelerate then changes down again and carries on.
Road noise is a problem - it's not as quiet as previous Volvos by a long way. (D5 V70/S80 much quieter)
It's good on the motorway once moving - will happily lop along at 100mph without stress on cruise and the adaptive cruise is very good apart from the braking, which it does too often and too aggressively
It's much more comfortable than anything similar from Audi or BMW, but the seats are not as sumptuous and the leather not as thick as Volvo used to make. The stereo is also not a patch on the standard (high performance) stereo in the V90/S80. Also doesn't go very loud.
Make sure you get the software updated regularly, the auto braking system can have a fit occasionally and apply the brakes hard enough for the ABS to fire, then release them and carry on - for no reason. Mine's been back one already and it's better but not fixed.
Overall it's been good, not cost anything and never dipped under 40mpg even when commuting on back roads.
The best thing is the way it looks - Volvo have wiped the floor with BMW, Audi and especially Merc. Who'd buy a C or E class with the way they look right now ? Serious ugly.

Which model do you have? The nappa leather in the Inscription is great- better than the equivalent in my 3 Series.
Mine is Inscription too. The leather is at least real leather,it's nice but not quite as thick as Volvo used to use. I agree that BMW "leather" is very cheap and nasty, if it is even real leather, it doesn't feel like the real thing. Merc pretend leather is plastic which I think is shocking, puts me off a Mercedes.Gassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
