The Volvo S90/V90 lease thread

Im getting cold feet on account of the punitive fixed yearly servicing this car needs
£650-750 for two mandatory services is hard to ignore especially as VAG, BMW and others have a variable period which may even exempt them from a first oil change if you're lucky/creative
18 months is a decent idea but I was wondering if anyone has blagged a 23 month contract or been given an assurance, pref in writing, that you can duck the second spendy service if you hand it back a week early?
Cheers
The car is a bargain so what are you worried about? You can't have a cracking deal then expect to pay buttons for servicing costs. Even taking the service costs into account, the deal is still brilliant for the quality and price of the car. £650-750 for two mandatory services is hard to ignore especially as VAG, BMW and others have a variable period which may even exempt them from a first oil change if you're lucky/creative

Because he could find that he has to replace brake pads and discs in this service which push the costs of the final service to well over £1000+.MYOB said:

Cars have always been emotional purchases with the hard economics airbrushed over with a bit of 'man maths' and an optimistic guess at running costs
WIth a lease its brutally simple what your financial liabilities are going to be and sure these deals are cheap relatively speaking but not with an extra 750 quid and a dealer leaning on you heavily at the end of the term with the quoted consumables possibly needing sorting too.
Im still keen on the V90 but when the time comes to order I shall be looking closely at the penalties for handing it back a month early and would love to hear of anyone who has actually negotiated a 23 month term
I thought 12 month fixed servicing had died out........
Cheers

No-one sent the memo to Volvo...Cheers
I'm on my 4th Volvo in 10 years. I buy rather than lease so can't comment on that score.
But yes, the second year service is a major one and normally costs around 4-500. And quite frequently, every two years I need brake pads and discs. Not always but frequently. I'd purposely bought a new car before the major service thinking I would rather pay for a new car than pay their extortionate service costs.

Indeed. This car is equivalent to a 5 series or E class and it's available at Kia prices ffs! So what if it costs 2 or 300 more to service than a VW over the term, its equivalent to a tenner on the monthly. But when the monthlies are insanely cheap who really cares.snake_oil said:

I agree, if it's just the service costs itself but there could be a big bill if consumables are required which are very expensive. Still, just factor these cost into the monthly lease amount before making a final decision.Wasnt there an early thread that leasing that as soon as youre past the half way point you can hand teh car back at any time and you dont have to pay the remaining monthlies?
Something to do with the finance act and not paying for something you dont have
You'll have paid over the odds due to the up front.
re servicing what with VAG having the extended service interval for 24 months and Toyota doing £120+£270 for first two services what are you paying £750 with a Volvo?

I was offered free delivery (dealer is 80 miles away) but I'm getting the train for £8 and getting a full tank of fuel thrown in!
Happy days
Has the dealer taken any kind of deposit? Going to order one on Monday, however I a good deal came up on the XC60 D4 R Design or the Tiguan R Line, I think I would want to cancel.Happy days

Can anyone confirm whether the park assist pilot includes the rear camera, or is it just the front sensors (rear standard) plus the auto parking system?
Thanks.
Clear as mud here on a v40Thanks.

I was told if I wanted to cancel, not to worry as the car would instantly find another home so I'm guessing I wouldn't be charged a penny. No deposit paid as of yet but I will definitely be taking the car! I'm guessing that's the major advantage of dealing direct with a dealer and not a broker. The broker would hit you for a minimum £500 if you cancel, some a lot more than that. Gassing Station | Volvo & Polestar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
