Took delivery of the D5 Savile today, considering it was ordered blindly, I’m really pleased with it and the colour, plenty of depth to the car without being a full black.

Not had a proper drive yet but on first impressions, it’s a nice step up from the alltrack, front assist tested whilst he was here, works well, love the self opening/closing boot which will be handy with kids.

Looking beautiful with its low ride height yet a big ol thing, Volvo have truly evolved from the boxy v70 days. Rest assured, I will have a list of questions soon!

Sensus looks intuitive and easy to use, seats are wow! Overall v v impressed so far. Will post pics once it’s had a bath.

Next step is to sort out privacy glass which I miss.

So had this beaut dropped off to me at 7.30 this morning, thanks to Bob the driver, top bloke. One of the Mills offers that Karen kindly sorted out.

First impressions, don't find it as big as I was expecting but I do run a golf Estate as well, so maybe used to the size. Although the boot is a lot deeper.

First diesel I've had in a while, so took a moment to get used to engine noise but you soon forget. Engine pulls away quite easily once moving but do find the d4 engine has to work a bit to get off the line at a reasonable pace.

Steering is also very light, but quite sharp for the size. Will try in sports mode to see what difference it makes.

Build quality is great, coming from an audi, I don't think it's a drop off that some have mentioned in reviews. Liked the key box presentation as well.

Car looks the biz, glad I paid a few quid more for the colour, makes it feel a bit younger.

Pilot assist seems to work really well in the short go I gave it. Think it's going to be really useful for my regular motorway trips.

To sum up, really pleased with it, was going to keep my Audi for a bit longer but I've always liked the v90 and when I saw the deal, I couldn't resist, very happy with my decision.

Last thing, does everyone else have a plastic clip on the right hand side of the windscreen? At first I was trying to pull it out thinking it was some left over pre delivery trim, but then clocked on that its a parking ticket display holder? Nearly snapped it off ... laugh

Did exactly the same! The wife told me what it actually was.

Got my first error messages today. When I started the car I got:

Wiper Failure; and
Turn Signal System Malfunction.

None of the indicators worked for the rest of the drive, nor the windscreen wipers. I'll get it booked into the dealers next week so at least it will have a nice wash and vacuum, but has anyone else experienced this?

Just wondering if it's a simple fix or the start of a long protracted fault finding process involving many dealer washes and vacuums?

Apologies if it’s covered but how do you fold the mirrors in whilst trying to squeeze through a tight gap?

Also am I correct you can turn on the adaptive headlights by twisting the stalk to A (which then shows an A next to the lights symbol on the speedo panel. Is it worth keeping them on full time? New to this lighting technology.

Hoping to sit down with the manual tomorrow and learn a few bits n bobs.

Such a shame the R DESIGN doesn’t come with dipping side mirrors, will take me afew more days to master the superclose-to-kerb parking.

Press the left and right mirror buttons at the same time.

Cheers for that, works a treat.

Just word of caution for all, be careful not to let the belt buckle swing or let it catch with the chrome trim on the doors, sadly I now have a visible dent on it, it wasn’t even a heavy impact but shows it’s not bulletproof like volvos are perceived to be. Very disheartened as it’s only my 3rd day.

Did a quick google and I’m not the only one.

Yep, first one, but impressed by the experience so far. Btw, does anyone find that the pilot assist tends to keep you closer to the left lane rather than middle, I think I naturally drive a bit closer to the right lane, so feels a bit unnerving at times, when you drive past vehicles, especially large ones redface

Pilot assist definitely sticks to the left of the lane for me. Usable but disconcerting so I’m only playing with it so far.

I’ve noticed the T6 torque steers a bit. I’m not sure how quickly the Haldex transfers torque to the rear.

It does definitely stay too far to the left. M42/M6 in rush hour means it's just not usable so I'm just on adaptive cruise. On quieter sections/time of day it's ok. I wonder if something like this could be fixed with a software update. Do Teslas/others do this also I wonder?

I'm the same with the pilot assist - far too far to the left.

It's ok in the inside lane, but used it once in the outside lane whilst going past a truck - never again! yikes

Just found this thread, a year into my wife's v90 Inscription Pro ownership. Tried lane assist once, and the left issue put me right off. Great car all the same: coming out of a f11 520d, it feels much more comfortable and equally if not more premium.

Yes, they're pretty poor.

Looks like you can get the pilot assist recalibrated so that it keeps more central. When I get a chance I will call my local dealer and see what they say. Unfortunately the dealer network where I live isn't the best, need to go a bit out of the way to get to my local one...

I was just about to say the guy who showed me around the controls today mentioned that the pilot assist has been calibrated so it’s central. Tried it on way home from collection and it seems fine.

I’m certainly considering the service plan to spread the cost over the term having had the fixed service prices confirmed by the dealer today.
First service is £272.32, second service is £415.50, ouch!! I’d imagine this wouldn’t be much different whichever dealer you chose.
Was offered a Service plan with a £36 saving on normal cost but means it can be spread over the term, 22 payments of £32.46 interest free, service plan is usually £750.42.
The only way to avoid the second service would be to hand the car back just over a month early to avoid the indicator coming on.
