S40 T4

A friend of mine has an 1999 'S' Reg S40 T4 (I think thats a 1.9 T) he has been having a problem with the fuel reaching the injectors, he has been advised by another friend that it could be the fuel pump.

The car has been stopping on a drive, car shows plenty of petrol but stops running.

As the fuel pump costs over £200 new, is there anything else that could be casuing the issue, and would one from the scrappy be alright to use, or does it have to be new?

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

Cheers for that, he has found someone who was braking one near by and changed the pump, and seems problem solved, well fingers crossed.
