Yes, I read a review where it was mentioned that if wanting the lighting kit it was best added during the build because they go everywhere. It recommended the 'Light My Bricks' version because it has a lot more lights, including for the boilers!

This is my first Lego set for 40 years! My step-kids showed zero interest so none bought. I intend to set this up as an ornament in my study but the build will be for quiet evenings in with my girlfriend this Christmas holiday season; cheese and wine and Lego!

Probably go easy on the wine with a set like that! biglaugh

Does look amazing though. I’m tempted to buy one as it retires in the hope we might have a place big enough to have it on display along with ALL my other sets!

Where's the best deal on ordering loose pieces, preferably being able to select the pieces you want by shape/colour or by reference number? Probably a small bucket's worth, depending on how costly they are.

I thought Lego themselves were OK for spares...

Really not sure the lighting kit for the internal engine room lighting is worth £100 more than the similary GoB kit : https://gameofbricks.eu/collections/lego-trains-an...

I dont think ive ever seen anyone display the titanic "split"

Debating on getting the above kit for mine, but not sure if I want it lit or not at the moment.

I think it depends what parts you want and the quantities.

Lego, will have most of what you want and you can tag parts onto an order to get free delivery.

Bricklink will also have everything you want (including discontinued stuff) but rarely can you buy all you want from one seller and you end up with multiple sets of P&P charges.

I personally think it's easier to find parts on Bricklink than the official Lego site, particularly if you don't know their exact name or can't find/read the minute part number moulded into the brick. Unofficial Bricklink colours are far easier to understand than official Lego colour names!

Price wise, sometimes Bricklink is cheaper, sometimes not, all depends on the seller. And don't forget multiple postage costs.

Brickowl is another Lego selling site, but I've no experience of them.

What I like about Bricklink is adding items to wanted lists, which makes it far easier to buy from. I even use their wanted lists to make it easier finding bits on the Lego site.

Took a look and agree with you - especially as there's a BF deal on at the mo. I just bought the remote kit (no sound) for £52 using code 'BF30'.

Really enjoyed that!

Far more detailed than a 630 piece set should ever be! More of these please Lego!

I’m sure the Game of Bricks option is nice and obviously it saves some cash but I Iike what I’ve seen from the Light My Bricks reviews and want that so it’s being shipped as I type this.

Incidentally, I read that the Titanic model is being discontinued next year already.

For those of us with a Yorkshire persuasion (me) who don't want to spend £50 on some LEDs, most supermarkets have battery powered Christmas light sets in now. 2xAA cells, 20 warm white LEDs (up to 100 in some cases). A bit of a faff perhaps, but they can be simple yet effective and only cost about £3

Yeah thats not going to work in the same way at all ... for reference the kit installed on the Home Alone house above, this is the size of most of the LEDs... little finger and airpod for scale

Indeed, and loads of the LEDs are built into replacement bricks that swap out etc. A DIY version might chuck some light around but it won't match the miniaturisation of the proper kits.

I have just installed the lights on Santa’s Visit.
That may be the fiddliest thing I’ve ever done! The Lego did that typical thing where you’re trying to squeeze something together and the entire model imploded on itself into about 7 different pieces!

Unlikely seeing as it's a fairly new release and it's an exclusive, to Lego, set
