i've ordered loads of spares from them, and always arrived on time, only time it didnt arrive on time was when i ordered a 1/8th buggy and it the courier company "misplaced" the item, but that wasn't wheelspins fault, always very helpful when i've phoned them

It's a bit of a strange, murky World IMO.

I had all sorts of issues with my XSTR Pro and they all took a LOT of time to sort out but I got there in the end.

My cheapish, 4WD brushless buggy has now cost me the best part of £400 (it cost £90 to buy then £40 import duty!!) in total!! Two new ESCs (it would have been nice if the manufacturer realised a fan is ESSENTIAL!!), a snapped motor axle (I bought a much better one) and AGES sourcing a custom cast spur and pinion gear - I got through four plastic ones that got chewed to bits in now time.

However it would seem that even high end ones have their fair share of issues. A learning experience and I finally have a mega quick (11.1v lipos) fun little toy. I'll just keep quiet about how much it cost in total...!

Here is a bit of a trip down memory lane, I just dug these out to take some quick pic's to add to this thread. None of these have been used in years, I'm getting old!

Most of you will not even remember what some of these are, I just wish I had kept more of them from my youth:

Anyone know of RELIABLE online shop for Traxxas spares please?

I'm on holiday this week and have tried two big model shops up here (ahead of getting on the ferry later) no one carries the part i'm after, not even any uk sellers on ebay. Lsited only on American and HongKong locations.

If anyone can help please it is Traxxas part number 3793. Circa £2.50....frustrating.com

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=traxxas+3793&amp...
http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/8543/

Job done.
I found that, but he did say RELIABLE. Site doesn't look great.
Thank you chaps, i'd love to name and shame the jokers that have failed me with this part.

Just ordered one from wheelspin models, will see how they get on.
I'm currently waiting to board ferry.

Almost, it's a Maxima, the follow on from the Mini Mustang, I used to run these as they were different from the Cat's that everyone else was running smile

Wasn't the mini mustang the one with a 2 speed gearbox?

Yep, that was an option.

I've got one somewhere, that was PB using their 1/8 ic knowledge. I think I only used it in anger once though, was a pain to try and ge the clutch set up to give a consistent change. I do remember my car heading off into the distance at the Welsh Grand Prix many years ago with interference (27meg in those days) in top gear with some kids trying to catch it!

well my house move meant finding all my old rc stuff - which i knew id never grow out of! i built my first car years - tamiya Fighter buggy rx, then bagged an ebay bargain - brand new petrol subaru - details were vague but took a risk. Does anyone know any little mods/hop ups that can be done to the fighter buggy? i put new tyres on, its my first car so like to keep it for the memories.

Just noticed the reply mate! got it going now, bit of 10yr old fluff or something stuck in the carb... whipped it off and gave it a blast with an air line, just got radio gear etc... had to get some fresh fuel pipe and a new filter as the years took their toll on the old ones! took the filter out the bag and it fell apart in my hand!! ran 2 tanks through it very rich with the wheels off the ground.

what would you advise for the next tank or 2? should I start leaning out the HSN?

Wow those take me back !

The Kyosho / Pb Maxima and Yokomo Dogfighter are worth hanging onto . Loving the srm racing stickers , bring back memories.

I owned a Pb Mustang , the Maxima was the improved version , sold one around 4 years ago for around 120 pounds. But i would reckon nigh on 200 for one now.

Theres a Yokomo Dogfighter built version but never used , it was kicking around ebay for around 600 ish pounds .

You really think they are worth that much? But to who?

Thinking about it I had another Maxima, I think I threw it out, doh!

The Dogfighter is the first one with chain drive, it has never been run! I will have to try and get all the bits together for it.

Finally got round to testing all my runners. Now taking up the shelves they should to remind me to get out and play!

Tamiya VLB with original 1980s decals biggrin running a 9T brushless. Wheelies at any speed!
Ansmann Royal Flash with 5.5T brushless. Can do a standing backflip, but that knackers the diff, so turned it down a bit. With the right gearing it will do over 70mph. Currently geared a little lower as it only has 27mhz radio in it at the moment, so goes out of range very quickly.
Tamiya Mini with limited edition M-03 Blue chassis and oil filled dampers. Set up for indoor carpet racing.
On top of the Mini a vintage VLB Mini 4wd. Loved playing with them when I was a kid...

Vintage Tamiya Clod Buster - the car I always wanted when I was a kid. Seemed a bit slow though, so now running 2x Sport Tuned motors.
Lancia Delta Integrale TT-01. 9T brushless, geared for a tarmac track I know. With the original gearing it overtook a mate of mine who was driving at 40mph. I really should measure it properly. It's quick though!

Very heavily abused DF-03 buggy with an Avante 2001 repro body. In need of a lot of TLC cosmetically, but still runs ok. Again, a 9T brushless. Great for gravel and dirt tracks. (On top is an old Tamiya Peugeot 205 T16 static model project I need to finish off).
Tamiya Bear Hawk, underneath a Peugeot 205 GTI model (same as my "1:1" car). This is one of my absolute favourites. Sport Tuned motor, but just runs so sweetly on loose gravel with those narrow front tyres and RWD, motor hanging out the back there. Handles like a Porsche.
Tamiya Manta Ray running a vintage Parma motor and ancient ESC. Retro running fun.
Yokomo Crawler. Cheap Chinese thing, actually very capable off roader. Will eventually upgrade it to full 7.4v system but for now it's fine.
Tamiya CC-01 Pajero scaler. Needs a crawler motor, but again, great to play with at low speed. This one is set up to be fully waterproof, and does indeed work even when fully submerged.

Close-up of the VLB.

Manta Ray

Current project. TL-01 rolling chassis. I've got a spare 9T brushless with ESC to go on there, then some drift tyres, and now to choose a body. Something JDM I think...

Looking good, you should get them all out and take some proper pics of them cool

I love the Manta Ray, I'm bidding on one at the moment...along with an Avante (the last one I was bidding on went silly over £250) and a Boomerang.

I'm so glad I've got back into this hobby.
