Tamiya Volvo FH16 Globetrotter 750 6X4 Timber truck

A bit more colour. Next job is lots to lacquer, current count of painted parts is 22 and still quite a few more to do.
2nd batch will be the rear arches, dash, steering wheel and seats.
I’m pretty pleased with how they’re coming out so far, considering my spraying in the past has left a lot to be desired!

Bloody hell I wish I had the time for something like this, I used to win a few cups in my youth at model shows for my creations but I don't think I've built anything since I was 12 or 13?
Love the idea of doing one of the F1 rigs-when you get up close to them in the paddock they're beautiful things.

That would be pretty easy, use a trailer similar to the one I’m using and customise it with skirts all round like this

Check out this customised road train I found, I can only wish mine is even half as good!

Searching youtube for rc roadtrains throws up some very cool models. I dread to think how much they cost!https://youtu.be/ASha9Wr4NfM

I'd better stop looking before I do something silly

The spraying continues!
I had done the cab, but was unhappy with how even the blue parts were, so rubbed them down and gave it some more coats. It’s much better now.
This evening I’ve primered the seats, dash, steering column and steering wheel.
Tomorrow morning I’m picking up a radio, servos, 7.2v battery, charger, and also talked myself into getting the MFC03 now.
My logic being it would be easier to install as I build it, then buy a trailer later rather than having a trailer now and struggling to fit the MFC03 at a later date.

I think that was an alternative to the MFC setup.
I think all I need now is a set of trailer lights, I’m going to run them via Bluetooth so won’t need any cables between truck and trailer.
I’m also hoping to have the tow hitch operation by the servo that would have been used for the 5th wheel.
Torrows job will be trying to get my head around all of the cables for the MFC, then I can finally start building, I’m starting to get bored of spraying things!

There’s pros and cons, if you have cables then you need either a thick unrealistic one (as supplies in the trailer lights kit), or single more realistic looking ones. Obviously if you have cables then you have to unplug it when unhitching, to me that defeats having the 5th wheel/towing hitch controlled via remote if you have to then undo the cables manually.
I would rather have the remote function and no wires.
However, I may need to use wires between the trailer and dolly if I decide to have lights on the dolly.

Bought a cheap system off Amazon which actually works quite well, indicators etc all off the remote.
The MFC 03 seems expensive, so still exploring options. Any tips welcome !
I want to build it up to see where i am going to have body colour and contrast.
I have BMW Titan Silver and a Pearlescent Vauxhall Red i picked up the other day, shall practise tomorrow.

Two and a half hours later I have sorted everything!
All LED’s labelled, all the channels worked out correctly and the MFC all configured.
Sorting the LED’s wasn’t straightforward, as I was having to reference the truck manual and the MFC manual. It got confusing because on my Volvo you have to decide which locations you want to use (3 to choose from, two sets of lights, so one is unused). Obviously this affects how you label them. Just to confuse it further, due to the Volvo having a longer chassis you have to order 3 extra sets of rear lights with longer cables.
This then allows you to use the unused shorter reversing lights as extra front fog lamps!
I had to work all of this out as I went along.
Oh, further confusion due to the MFC manual listing some as having orange LED’s, but they are actually clear but light up orange.
As opposed to the rear lights which are listed as red, and actually are red!
I think it’s probably the first time I’ve struggled with Tamiya instructions not being clear. A process of elimination sorted it all out though.
I won’t be using the vibration unit, as I’ve seen a lot of people say it basically just helps everything come loose over time, and most don’t bother with it.
I only plugged in the front indicators for now, as that’s all that is needed when configuring it with the controller channels and trims.
Somehow all of this has to fit!
