I see that Ecto-1 is back in stock on shop.lego.com, by far the cheapest place to buy it now, everyone else has ratcheted it up already.

I picked one up from Toys R Us in Leicester (via Click & Collect) at the end of last week and they still had a couple on the shelf - http://www.toysrus.co.uk/toys/lego-ghostbusters-21... (£44.99)http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/Ghostbusters-Ecto-1-211...

I've aready got one built, so this one is going to be put away, while I keep an eye on ebay prices
Not sure how it will go, could be that Lego have massively ramped up production of Ecto-1, knowing full well that anyone that is happy to spend so much on the Firehouse won't be bothered by £45 for Ecto-1 to go with it.I have never understood limited production of products. Is basically a company giving up potential profit. Think about the UCS. Lego could relaunch it and sell as many as they like for £500. Instead they let speculators make £1000s.
It's the same with Porsche and their RS models. Make as many as you can sell. but they seem happy to let others make more money than them by trading their products.

Think of all the sets they sell from people expecting new lines to do the same now they know there is a value there.
Maybe they see the value of these sets as increasing the brand value?
Interestingly I notice Lego has announced they're stopping selling Wall-E until they can revise the neck, does that mean the current sets will be more valuable in the future? Limited production as a result and increased rarity?

I have the nirvana of train sets, the 7740 yellow/red electric passenger train set.
stil boxed, all the instructions, plus lots of items that went with it, in 1983 !!!
Where is a good place to get a new set of rubber trims/bands for the motor wheels ?
secondly could do with some new sets of wires/plugs for the 12v electrics and lights.
I know ebay- but prices seem silly.
Had it running around the Xmas tree a couple of years ago to my wife's annoyance. But now I have fully insulated the attics and boarded them out, I actually got it out of the box and made a simple oval of track.
I can see my secret attic habit growing.................

No probs, it can be good fun rooting around. Can find some treasure where stock numbers have been cocked up and stock is left...
