Nice, are they 1:18 or 1:43? I have 1:43 champions from 1981 - 2014 at the moment, going back further and that they become a bit scarce / expensive! I notice most of yours are complete with the cigarette logos, did you do that yourself or did they come with them? I managed to get The 88 - 91 Mclaren sets with Marlboro logos on them. I'm never too sure about models with cigarette logos, did the factory issue ones with the logos to certain countries or are they pretty much guaranteed to be modded?
On that note, what are peoples thoughts on modifying diecasts yourself? I'm in two minds, fitting the full tobacco logos makes it more like the original car but then it is not an original model and hence may affect value in years to come, alternatively does it increase the value?
Mine are all 1:43, I couldn't justify the space needed for a large 1:18 collection. I deliberatly search for models with tobacco advertising on them because without they can look a bit bare and because that's how they were when they raced. So far the only one i've had modded is Raikkonen's 2007 car, finding that model with a driver in was hard enough. I didn't do the conversion myself I had it done by a chap that runs f1diecastconversions.co.uk It cost me about £30 to have it done I think but his work is excellent. I have 2 more i will have converted at a later date. Some countries had models issued with the tobacco sponsorship on, for example the 96 and 97 cars of Hill and Villeneuve came from Australia and some others have come from Germany and Italy. 1 thing I have learnt though is postage from Australia is 3 days quicker than postage from Italy on average. Finding models older than 1975 seem to be tricky as Minichamps don't make many older than that and yes some are seriously expensive for the size. For example Keke's car is normally advertised for £100 plus, I don't know why this particular model is so expensive, I won mine on an auction for quite a bit less as I was not prepared to pay that much for it. Resale value doesn't bother me as I don't intend to sell them.On that note, what are peoples thoughts on modifying diecasts yourself? Don't ever say that. You never know what the future may bring. Mine were going to be with me forever, but over the last six months I've sold several dozen and there are still several hundred I need to get photographed and listed.Downsizing is partially the culprit. Also having lost, over the last year, three people who were important to me, has made me see there are more things to life than little hunks of metal that stay in their boxes most of the time, quietly losing value (most of them).

Well I certainly hope I don't have to sell them, they don't take up much space and i've been an F1 fan over 20 years so some of them evoke some fond memories, especially Hill's 96 WilliamsDownsizing is partially the culprit. If you do anything that means the model is no longer original, it will decrease the value. But my advice would be to just go ahead if you feel like it, as with most of them, it will be a long time before the value increases significantly anyway.
On the other hand I bought all the sets of tobacco decals for the entire F1 grid from 1994 to 1999, but never got round to applying them. When I look at the price the '92 Benetton (Schumacher's first race winner) is going for, I'm glad I didn't!
Not sure I agree with that. They don't have tobacco advertising because of the issue of legality of such. I've seen a regular trend of well modded cars fetching more than their plain basic form. There are several models whose default decals actually deliberately leave spaces for the logos to be added in e.g. JPS Lotus. On the other hand I bought all the sets of tobacco decals for the entire F1 grid from 1994 to 1999, but never got round to applying them. Just sold this on eBay:
Absolutely gorgeous BMW 325Ti in 1/18 scale from Kyosho. Only sold it because I no longer have the full size car.
I originally had one in a pale metallic green, then I discovered they did one in Flamenco Red, so I sold it and bought this.
Of course, if you'd opened the bonnet you'd have discovered it wasn't absolutely accurate, because my real one was actually a 318. (And right hand drive of course.)
