Just saw this thread !!. Heres my Porsche 959 bought in 2005. As were the selection of Countachs....The Porsche 936 came a couple of years ago.

Drooling over the Porsche. If you feel the urge to share the ownership then please message me. My favourite Tamiya by far

I just finished restoring a 58062 Hotshot II using a lot of NOS parts. Really pleased with this.

That sure is pretty! One of the all time great looking buggies? I think so!
Reminds me of the Boomerang - I know the Hotshot(1) has very different rear suspension so guess the Hotshot 2 is based on the Boomerang or is it the other way around?
Nerd Mode activated:

1st: Hotshot - monoshock front and rear suspension and a two-piece plastic monocoque chassis
2nd: Supershot - same chassis as above but with twin shocks front and rear
3rd: Boomerang - open top single piece "bathtub" chassis, twin shocks at the rear, monoshock at the front
4th: Bigwig - another new, bigger, chassis with twin shocks front and rear, celebrating 10 years of Tamiya in R/C
5th: Hotshot 2 (as my restored example) - same chassis as the Hotshot, twin shocks at the rear, front monoshock
6th: Super Sabre - Boomerang chassis, Hotshot 2 suspension

All used the same gearboxes, all except the Bigwig used the same front suspension arms and variations on a theme at the rear depending on shock position.

After this the next generation of 4WD hobby buggy appeared as the Thundershot.

Sorry about that nerd
I had the super sabre and converted it to a boomerang. I think a lot of people went with twin front setups on the hotshot and boomerang?

Have a rough runner original Boomerang buried somewhere in the shed but that told me lol. It was probably the shared suspension parts that got me muddled. Great job on the restoration, is it a shelf queen or one to be used and enjoyed?

Definitely a shelf queen! I had a Boomerang too, after a Kyosho and before a Lunchbox. I fitted the twin shock front suspension and a load more hop-ups, it was a great buggy! Now restored too…

Don't blame you for wanting to keep it shiny side up :-) Would love to see some pics of the Boomerang, will have to drag mine out one day for a blast around the garden. The Mrs has a chrome Midnight Pumpkin but again it's hidden in the shed and by now probably more than a little worse for wear - fairly sure it's a Lunchbox in a posh frock?

Hello all,

Here is my collection:

I managed to bag this Cheetah off ebay, from a chap down the road. It is an original release, including the original humpback battery!

It needs a few things to make it nice. The main one being the torsion beams (which are difficult to impossible to find) and a couple of cosmetic bits. Came with the radio set and a quick charger. The intention is that it goes with goes with my other Lambo models and bits.
Being as it is the original kit, they changed a few things for the XR311, There are quite a few shared parts between the two kits. Alas for the XR311 ReRe on of the hcnaged items was the torsion beams and their mounting into the chassis.

This is my old BigWIg, bought this when I was 17 (50 this year) after working in Blackpool hotel kitchens over Christmas. Still has the Beatties bag and the old Technigold motor too.

I replaced all of the bushings and fully raced it , bakc in the day. The intention is to turn it into a bit of shelf queen, but with a decent patina. Just need to loose the dust. I'm sure the old 8.4v battery is toast and really just ballast now.

My final car is an old Parma street car.

No I don't know where the body posts have gone!

Still has an old Tamiya mechanical speed controller, so it fits in this thread (sort of). Somewhere I have a couple of the older Parma motors to go with it. The only issue with this is that the axle is carbon and the end is broken. I've passed it onto an engineer to see if he can do something with the axle, otherwise there's no drive...

I can help you out on the axle, I'm sure! Somewhere in my spares box; I'm sure I have the original (steel) axle from that same chassis (recognise the folded rear pod)... Which I happened to replace with a carbon one, which should also be there. Or maybe I binned the steel one as I never thought I would use it!

TL;DR - I have a spare axle (probably), you're welcome to. Will rummage tomorrow and report back!

Loving the Cheetah! A friend of mine had one back in the day, I remember him running it around the local tennis court, it seemed like magic!

Here’s my restored Boomerang (so many replacement parts over the years it’s like Trigger’s broom…

Originally my brother and I joined the local buggy racing club, which was great but I think at the time we were too young to be bothered about the competitive side. A lot of the racing was inside in a school hall on carpet with ramps.

We started off sharing a Hornet, so way too high a CG for carpet, then a Hotshot which was night and day. Both had ballraces and slightly better motors added but we didn't want to spend our pocket money on the racing battery packs etc.

As I remember, the Supershot or at at least a 4 spring Hotshot mod came out immediately, but I really liked the mechanical side and thought the rear suspension linkage to the single shock was so clever I never wanted to mod it.

Continue holding that thought! Found the hubs, bearings, spurs, etc... but I think the shaft is in another box... in another box... which is impossible to get to without sorting a path through the garage. However, the garage tidy-up is on the chores list this weekend so I WILL NOT be beaten biggrin

This thread brings back so many memories

My first RC car was a Super Sabre - I will get one if they bring it back out in ReRe.

I do have 2 Tamiya's still, a 911 on a TT02 and a Clod Buster smile and I do use the Vintage FF3 radio for them all

The rerelease super clod is on back order atm for end of feb delivery. £270 and I’m very tempted by it

As per previous page I had a Hotshot, but one of my friends had the Clod and once you’d seen that in action, everything else was irrelevant cloud9

I think there must be some kids ITT who were given a lot more pocket money than I was, surely the 959 and in particular the superclod were mega money at the time?

Great collection. The BigWig would have been the ultimate for me. Although I would have put the wheels on the right way around so the Drive was in the right direction!

Two-tone grey 2CV from Tamiya Charleston (M-05) kit, I don't believe such a variant existed, I just felt like painting it that way biggrin

Modified Lowride Pumpkin M-06. Winch works from a 3-position switch on the transmitter, lights from a potentiometer (which isn't ideal, but that's what the TX has).
Various scratch built odds & ends in the replaced planked load bed, basic (& reduced depth) interior with XR311/Cheetah driver heated, bent & sanded to a more upright position.

Both have had the stock wheels narrowed & find with Sand Scorcher front tyres, and both have magnetic body mounts.

2CV was a very quick build, the Pumpkin took the best part of seven years (!).
