hey everyone just join up to piston heads cuz i really need to ask a question about the tamiya taisan porsche 911 GT2.

i have a machanical speed controller with an acoms receiver and i am thinking about getting an ESC. everything is standard on the car but dont no what the motor is as it is not labled up and on my building instructions i can't see it labled on ther either. I found the tamiya TEU 101BK ESC which one of its spec is 'Max. continuous current (FET spec): Forward 60A, Reverse 60A' and i found a futaba MC330 ESC (13+ Turns) that is 'Max. continuous current (FET spec): Forward 200A, Reverse 100A',i am not sure what the difference is, does it just run faster with higher 'A' also i'm not sure what the value of turns mean and how many turns the tamiya is. i dont no which one is best to get as i only use it for fun so dont want to spend loads but dont want to make it run slower than it would with the mechanical speed controller.
Is the motor kit standard, is it silver, if yes then its a 27turn standard silver can, the esc will do fine

dont really know, but i would say its how many amps the esc can take continuously, so the futaba is the one that can handle a quicker motor, as you say its 13tuns +.

the tamiya one will be fine with your motor, as will the futaba one, none of them will make the motor faster or slower, the motor is as fast as the motor is.

lets make this easy, if you put a ton load(your motor) on a ton truck(tamiya esc) it would carry it, if you put a ton load(your motor) on a 4 ton truck(futaba esc) it would carry it, ie the silver can is about the most the tamiya one can handle, the futaba on will handle a hotter/faster motor.

If you get a 13 turn motor they are quite fast, if i was you fit the futaba with the silver can, get used to it, then buy you self a 17t motor

Definitely go brushless, and on a limited budget there is only one choice - Hobbywing EZRun. 9T brushless (motor, ESC and programming card) for £40 inc. delivery, ebay search for EZRun.
Honestly, they are soooo fast. My TT-01 does over 40mph (on standard gearing) with a 9T combo in, and gets there in under a second (providing there's enough grip).
My DF-03 has uprated gearing, should make over 60mph with a decent LiPo in it. For £40. Amazing.
