That is really amazing but I can see why some people like the slower scale flying (which is sometimes difficult to do smoothly) rather than hurling the thing around the sky like that!http://www.helituning.com/index.php/video/flights/...
Flying any sort of model isn't particularly easy, 3D heli flying is probably by far the hardest, (pains me to say it because my heart is with F3a!).
Flying scale aircraft and making them look like the real thing when they are in the air is one of the easiest thing's to do. I've been there and done that too! The hard thing with scale is building the aircraft, (I never had the patience to do it!), which is why in my experience scale pilot's are no better then your average sunday afternoon pilot. They spend all of their time building, not flying!
I flew a semi scale Spitfire at a scale event at Beaulieu many years ago. At the end of static judging I was last by a very long way. I won the competition by flying well, much to the disgust of the other pilots there. They tried to get me DQ'd because the model was semi scale and therefore should fly better then 'proper' scale! In reality this just wasn't the case, I was a better pilot but they couldn't/wouldn't admit it!

Falmin' Nora!! Thats some serious flying. Im chuffed when i achieve a good steady hover. Ordered an E Flite Blade MSR today to see how that goes. The Alupro went back to the shop this avo as it burnt out the left / right tilt servo. I think i'll stick to indoor Mini Choppers for a bit and then go for something a bit bigger when ive mastered the Blade. The good thing with the Blade is that its not a twin coaxial so i wont look like a child. MSR's are great fun! Need to change the blade grips for metal ones though, the stock one's break easily.

Haven't flown for 20 years now. I used to scratch build and the dawn of rtf put me off a bit.
Part of the joy was turning up with your newly built masterpiece and have it fly straight and true with no need for trimming out knowing it came off your board. A fella turning up next to you taking a shiny bit of plastic coated foam out of a box beside you and doing exactly the same winds you up a bit.
Still got my pattern plane OS60, A couple of own design trainers, A 75" cub, An Extra 300 that used to have the control surfaces pulled off it every time I flew it with an OS120 and my very own design 9'10" wingspan P51 with OS 120 SC complete with CAA exemption. Countless engines, servos and sets.
Probably all next to worthless now.

if you have a dream to buy a ready-to-fly kit and start flying low and fast, have a large wallet and ensure no one with a video camera is near.
buy a foam plane and you're not really going to worry if you bounce if off the ground. take some time to build it and you'll respect the laws of physics that wee bit more.

Had the Blade MSR a few days now and am really enjoying it. Ive managed to progress from crashing every 10 seconds to flying the full 5m 30s of the battery without disaster. Most of that is hover to be fair but i am enjoying learning to maintain steady control before i move on to the more adventurous stuff.
I did venture out of the house with it yesterday and took it down to the local park. The short range was the first thing to catch me out (loss of control followed by me running after it) but it was the light breaze that really suprised me. The slightest whiff of wind or warm thermal air sent the little mite flying all over the place. In my opinion this was a good thing as i quickly learned how quick to react the Blade can be and it wasnt more than afew movements of the controls before it was back under control.
All in its a great little heli. Hopefully it'll be the start of a good flying career.
