I went into Cardiff yesterday as my C4s needed a front screen, so I had a walk around the shops just to kill time and wandered into Model Zone and admired the Porsche 935 (same as the on in StuG's pics) and also the Rothmans 962 they had in there, but priced at £149 each I couldn't justify one let alone both at the minute and walked off.
After lunch I still hadn't been called to say that my car was ready so went back for another look and noticed they had a sale on but these two were still marked up at full price.
I asked the assistant "I don't suppose those two are in the sale?" and on checking he came back to me with "you might be surprised. £75 each." I replied "I'll take them."
The wife doesn't know yet, but I don't think that it will help when she realises that the postman woke us up this morning delivering a 1:43 Porsche 917K as driven by the god that is Richard Attwood.
Bloody expensive hobby/habit this, but it's cheaper and more legal than drugs!
What year/model type is your C4S? My third 911 was a 993 C4S in Ocean Blue with linen leather. That was about 20 years ago but it was the most solid (hewn from granite feel) of all the 911's I've owned. After lunch I still hadn't been called to say that my car was ready so went back for another look and noticed they had a sale on but these two were still marked up at full price.

I also have a huge collection of diecast Porsches in 1;18 scale by Minichamps, AutoArt, Exoto etc.

The Jeff Koons M3 GT2 is one of my grail models. If I can get that next, I'll be happy (but prices are mad

Prices of AutoArt models have gone through the roof. The last 1:18 I bought was the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and I've virtually resigned myself to not buying any more at those prices. I can afford to buy, but the prices are ridiculous, so I will only buy something special.
More 1:18s are now being made in resin but don't have opening doors, boot etc.which is a shame. I bought the Kyosho GT Spirit Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota in white and it does look really good, so don't have a problem with the finish.
Nice display units g3org3y, who makes them?

I've got a lot of resin models (Otto and GT Spirit). As a BMW fan, it allows me to get the models that would otherwise not exist (if waiting for them to be made in diecast). I think they are very decent, though again prices on the rise mean they are less of a 'bargain'. Some lovely paint finishes though.
Thanks, they are Ikea (Hemnes).

Love this thread, its been a while since it was updated so thought I'd bump it up to get some more posts (hopefully!).
This is my current collection. As previously, I like to collect cars I've 'owned' in full size, but I also really like buying these 1:18 models, and so my model collection as expanded out and now features cars on my ideal 'to-do' list too:

A few of these are quite hard to get hold of, so when the opportunity came up I purchased them, even though I've not had the cars in 'real life' yet.
The top row is a Ferrari California (special edition Maisto from CostCo) and a Ferrari 360 (ebay). Both on my wish list. In the centre is a model of a 996 Carrera GT3 spec. Not sure of the scale but it was a gift from my wife and its really nice - very heavy. Possibly a 1:24 scale.
Then we have the Maesto Cayman, Hotwheels Aston V8 Vantage in black (rare), VW Scirocco in blue (rare) and the Mini cabriolet. I've owned a Cayman and Mini, the other two are on the to-do list.
Row 3 is a RR Evoque, Camaro, Beetle cab and Cayenne - all owned.
Row 4 is a Maesto silver Boxster (quite rare), 2009 Fiesta in 'Hot Magenta', 997 Cabrio S, Boxster. Owned all of these apart from silver Boxster.
Finally we have the Toyota MR2 on the bottom row - one of my favourite car designs which I owned back when I was 25!.
In amongst that lot are some other memorabilia which I like to keep in the display. The bumblebee poster is making it untidy at the back but in there temporarily whilst I work out where else to put it. I had it made for when my Camaro is on display at car shows and I need somewhere to lay it flat.
The Macan book is the brochure of the car and I really like the design of it, so it earned its place in the display unit. I quite fancy a Macan car too in the future perhaps.
The display is in my office and keeps me motivated!![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)

Just come across this thread and thought I would join in after spending quite a long time drooling over some of the lovely models here.
Mine are pretty much exclusively Otto models. I know that they don't have all the detail of the die cast pieces but the paint details are usually really good and I do like the fact that they make models of cars that otherwise might be ignored. I have 75 in total (including 12th scale ones) with more on order![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
I have the Ikea Detolf display units but I have always been a bit miffed that they only come with a few shelves so I have ordered (off eBay) some kits to mount additional shelves. For now I only have a picture of my "Renault" cabinet - will have to take some more when the new shelves arrive and I can get more models on display.
I was also luck enough to snag a big trophy cabinet from work for not much money which I am slowly working on filling up. This is big enough that I can 2 or 3 12th scale models on a shelf or 5 1/8th scale ones. It's currently also got Lego in it as I can't get to my Lego cabinets due to there being unbuilt Lego in front of them![banghead](/inc/images/banghead.gif)
