£100 for a Lego Sian - he’s some player. A fool arrogant but wow.

Christ just buy a new one for £200-230 enjoy it. Buy a Bugatti Chiron for similar.

They hold more or less full money used as availability is tiny.

We don’t sell ours - I’ve some childhood ones 30-40 years old, all played with but we kept the boxes no parts missing. Probably should sell to a collector of classic Lego but sentimental value / Xmas day building them with Dad - I’ll never sell.
Is that because you don't own them?

Checking ebay, the bigger Technics sets are going for strong money. Too strong to resist, I think. 42009 (Yellow crane Mk2) is mental money!

ETA Should I decide to sell part of the collection, what's the standard protocol? (I've never bought second hand lego so don't know what's normal)

Dismantle in to original bag order? Seems very time consuming.
Dismantle in to larger bags, but separating pegs, beams out, and leaving the rest in general bags?
Or just put it in any bags that will fit?

Then ebay?

I always deconstruct my technic stuff in to the original bag order using zip-lock bags but don’t always separate all the pieces as per the original bags if it’s a smaller set i.e. I’ll mix the connectors up etc.

My first place to sell is FB market place as it’s free and I prefer local collection, but if that doesn’t work then I use eBay.

I’ve also got a 42082 and a 42100 to breakdown and sell soon.

I disassemble as per the instructions back into the original numbered bags (which I will have opened carefully down one edge) and then tape them up. smaller parts like pins are separated by type and put in small ziplock backs The set then feels like new to the buyer.

Takes a bit longer perhaps, but some times you need to follow the instructions backwards to try to dig out buried axles to get the buggers apart.

For example, here's the Volvo Articulated hauler I've recently disassembled. I'll sell on eBay it in December when I hope to get a better price for it with Xmas shortages.

I prefer to sell on gumtree, but in my experience, gumtree is ok for lower value sets, eBay for the larger sets.

I keep all the original packaging but disassemble into numbered zip lock bags as per instructions, sorted usually by part type, E.G. bricks, special parts, smooth top parts, pins/connectors/etc.

Cool, thanks all.

Legmaster, I admire your patience to do all that, I've got 5 of the big boy sets and a couple of smaller ones to do, and all without the kids coming in and deciding they want to play with them! Good idea to wait for xmas shortages to sell, I think I'll bag up in time for early December and then get them all online.

I think you get a better price on ebay if you make the effort.

It's how I like to buy large 2nd hand, and sorted by colour makes it a pain in the arse to find parts. Also my Lego build table is my desk in front of my PC, so not too much room to spread out loads of parts. Probably, the biggest reason is I'm an impatient arse, so get wound up really quickly if I'm stuggling to find a part in a sea of parts of the same colour...

I bought the huge Tower Bridge set second hand with all parts sorted by colour in large bags, drove me nuts trying to find parts. Even though the instructions did not have build stages, I made my own build stages, numbered the bags (with page numbers) and put post it note markers in the instruction book. Bought that for £145, sold it for £195.

If only I'd put as much effort into learning stuff at school hehe

What sets do you have out of interest?

It must take a day to reverse build something like the hauler? Surely not worth the small uplift unless you actually enjoy doing that?

Don't notice it really, just the odd hour here and there for a build stage or two whilst watching st on youtube / reading st on here. Saves talking to the wife & kids...

Only 6 build stages to the hauler, some of them separate sections you build and add to the main model at the end of the build stage which makes it pretty quick.

I do enjoy it though, plus it keeps my mind occupied enough to stay out of the pub (sometimes!).

I didn’t even know it was available from anywhere but lego initially, let alone discounted.
