....and how much stock do Argos have? That's the question you have to ask.

They won't deliver one and the nearest store to me with one in stock is a 2-hour round-trip which would a) take up my time and b) wipe out any saving by using fuel.

There is that issue (as always with Argos) but I checked and there's stock within 5 miles of me. I'm SE London

And you would still have to go and get it - rather than having the nice courier-person bring it conveniently to you... biggrin

Then the wife would find out and I'd be in the dog house.....again. Learnt that lesson. Click and collect is my friend smile

I don't get the dislike of the Ford GT. I was just given it and really enjoyed the build. I also like the color - very close to the color of the Mustang.

See my comments one page ago - I enjoyed it too. A really nice build.

I did see them! I forgot to quote your post - I had intended to do so.

I just finished the Ford GT and enjoyed it. The colour is fine - and a nice change from orange.

I am looking forward to the Mars Rover and the skid-steer thing. Looks like an interesting/expensive season.

Amazon had the McLaren F1 for £115.

Turned out to be not-Lego in a Lego box. No Lego marks on the tyres or any of that parts I can see through the not-Lego bags. And it smelled of fish.

They've given me a £5 credit and a refund, and when I reordered the price had dropped £8, so now it's practically free.

Who was the seller?

Amazon has become a disaster to buy from - I dropped my Prime a while ago and only buy the odd thing now; even then usually only if it the item is both 'Sold by' and 'Dispatches from' Amazon as it's all to easy for scammers to get their item listed under a legit page.

It was KOCHRobert - but dispatched by Amazon, so I thought it'd be OK. He doesn't have great feedback now that I've found where to find it, and looks like it's a trick he's used before. Amazon said they'd deal with the seller but I'll be leaving feedback.

Noted.

'Dispatched by Amazon' just means the seller's using Amazon to hold their stock and dispatch - they could send whatever counterfeit stuff they wanted to Amazon and Amazon wouldn't - or can't - check it's legit.

Amazon UK is just basically an expensive AliExpress now; so much of it is no-name Chinese crap all made in the same factories with different packaging. If I wanted to buy cheap crap from the Far East I'd get it off AliExpress for 1/3 the price...

Aye - I usually stick to sold and dispatched by Amazon. Or if it's anywhere else at the same price I'll do that. I'm not mad-anti-Amazon, but I'd rather fund Smyths or Zavvi or similar - Amazon have plenty of money already.

Anyway; refund issued, replacement arriving tomorrow. Hopefully the replacement will be the real thing!

And the replacement is a fake too. Even has a sticker on the side saying "Made in Thailand by Broadway Industries"!

The chat people have said they're not responsible for "fulfilled by Amazon" items, as they aren't held in Amazon's warehouses. The Amazon website disagrees with them...

Have you tried contacting LEGO? I suspect their lawyers have a bit of clout, and I doubt Lego would be happy with a third party using a genuine box.
