I don't want to mention the B word, but stuff 100% takes longer for me Lego wise since the break up. Used to be super quick but now seems weeks at times.

This is the 3rd UCS X-Wing Lego have released, the last one wasn't even that long ago. To me it appears Lego, like Lucasfilm, are running out of ideas....

I know that stuff from the OT sell better than none OT stuff, especially UCS where most buyers are of the OT generation, but there are still so many things they could do in UCS from the OT, rather than just another re-hashed version of a previous UCS model. TIE Bomber, TIE Advanced (Vaders TIE), TIE Interceptor to name a few. We've had quite a few duplicates now, Death Star, Star Destroyer, MF, Tantive IV. They could even probably do UCS sets of some of the other Star Wars stuff and get away with it. I know we've had the Razor Crest, but a Hammerhead Corvette, Nebulon B (a proper UCS one), Mon Cal Cruiser (would be a very interesting build with all the curves), The Ghost etc. Yet, we just get re-releases of a previous UCS. frown

Talking about curves, why not a Princess Leia in gold bikini expert model?

My Up House and the freebies have arrived; however it was evidently soaked in transit and DPD re-packed it in just poly-bags. As such the box is both soggy and crushed. Lego chat were great - they can't swap it out as they're OOS (quelle surprise) but they've credited me 4000 points and I'll put that toward a new one to keep for the future and build the soggy-box one... Land Rover still en route apparently.

Whilst I broadly agree with the sentiment, the last one was 10 years ago! Lego SW goes out of print and then climbs to obscene values, so catering for new fans or those who missed out a decade ago on what is the most iconic ship that doesn't need to be £500+ in this scale/format seems fair enough. This seems like a reasonable away of dealing with an ongoing issue that is largely out of their hands (recognising it's impossible to keep making everything forever).

My son and I would do anything for a Jaba the Hutt Palace/Rancor Pit combo re-release (the one that stacks), yet there have been several variations of that historically.

I can’t tell you how much it angers me when people keep stuff for the future. No wonder things are out of stock if people keep buying stuff for the future.

How about stop being selfish and just buy stuff to build, and if you don’t want to build it then don’t fking buy it and let someone else buy it who actually wants to build it.

How about you wind your neck in and mind your own fking business.

If you go back and read my many posts in this thread and the Technics thread, you'll see that I always buy to build. I DO keep the boxes safely flat-packed and mint in case I ever want to sell USED in future. This will be the first time I've ever ended up with a set that would stay new in its box and the only reason that's occurred is because the one I bought TO BUILD has been damaged in transit.

Well then my rant wasn’t really aimed at you and I apologise. I’m just so fed up with things constantly being out of stock and yet all over Facebook and eBay advertised as still being in the brown shipping box from Lego. It’s not supposed to be an investment, it’s supposed to be a toy.

I have a few sets sitting and waiting to be built but wanted to get this one done.......

I was impressed by the set, especially the interior. Lots of detail and the NOS bottles are very cool. But tbh the reason I bought the set was that I saw the lighting kit available for it!

Pretty easy to do (bit fiddly round the lights) and looks awesome. Front and rear light LEDs, interior and underneath "neon" glow.
I've ordered bricks to mod it and make it look a bit different as per below

Hmmm not sure about that. I actually think it looks better as is.

I agree with ch37 for this release. I missed out on the previous X-Wing models and was not going to pay the piss take prices on eBay etc for discontinued sets. I’m very happy that they have released this set again but I get where Ash is coming from with certain sets being somewhat milked. I do wonder if Disney have a say on what Star Wars sets Lego can design and release confused

It's not a limited edition set. Anyone who wants it can buy it, they might just have to wait a week or three.

What a bizarre view. Pay your money, take your choice.

Not necessary as you can’t pay your money or take your choice if there’s no stock. I get where ThunderSpook is coming from especially for limited sets. I’m a collector but I build all my sets like I’m guessing Funk. From time to time I rotate them as I have no room for all of them. Any limited edition sets I like I try to buy the moment they are released to give me a chance of getting it; however I usually miss out as they are instantly sold out. Luck of the draw I guess and it is what it is. What frustrates me is when you see these items for sale on trading websites at hugely inflated prices. I understand it’s supply and demand but some have photos of multiple units of the same limited sets stacked up high in their living room. This does frustrate me but not to the point of losing any sleep over it. At the end of the day there are those interested in Lego and those in interested in making money.

How many sets are actually limited, excluding the free-with-purchase stuff?

Stuff goes out of stock, but I'm not sure much is genuinely limited release.
