I was at work and I got a box:
I opened the box and found:
much better than anything work related, though I am slightly disappointed by the lack of parts in the simplified resin kit.
I think I'll be doing Evan Mackie's plane as I'm too lazy to do any real research and come up my own scheme (though the white Egyptian version looks fun) and don't have the decals for them. Now to find out which of my old paints are still fluid- its about 3 years since I opened any of them :S and then buy some more.

I got to work and did some painting on Sunday. Now I look at the photos it looks far worse than I'm sure it does in real light- you can even see where I've used different blacks to touch bits up. However as when its together you can barely see into the cockpit I don't think I'll bother to fix it.
Seeing as I managed to damage the radiator getting it off its base I'll probably regret not separating the exhausts/wheels before painting as well. It does make them easy to hold though...

I got this far a week or so back but haven't put the photos up yet. Since taking them I've painted the underside and decided I'd go for one last coat (the 3rd) which turns out to have been a bit too thick
You can't see most of the mess I made inside fortunately and once the canopys on even less will be visible.

I think your attempts are totally fine. There are three things you need to improve your skills - practice, practice and practice.
I think what Eric was trying to say was, practise, practise and practise Now take your own advice and write out the word practise 100 times

I'd just add that if you've bought pre-flatted aftermarket tyres, you might as well put the flats at the bottom of the wheels
Dammit! I was hoping you wouldn't spot that. They're the academy ones and I don't think they're meant to be pre-flattened- I just made a mess trying to get them (and the exhausts off the damn 'sprue'. Having gone to the trouble of painting (and paid for) them I wanted to use them- hopefully if my plan comes together it won't be that visible/matter anyway.mcdjl said:

Aren't they the Resin Art ones? I read a review of their exterior detail kit (flaps, radiator, tailwheel well etc) and the fit was so bad that the reviewer concluded they weren't made for the Academy model! (as I have done for teh interior kit). Glad I made my own flaps and flatted wheels now.Cheers guys, glad you like it. I might have to try some of the tricks i've learnt with the model Vulcan i'm now going to finish- a mere 4/5years after i started it.
The original idea was that the Tempest was just taking off and skimming the bushes- it seems to be harder to line it up than i was hoping. He also appears to have gone with out the bombs.
