I would dearly love an accurate, detailed and (fairly) high quality scale model of a Ferrari F355.

Minimum 1:18 size. Are there larger models than this available?

Some pointers and advice would be gratefully received.

Would like one on the desk to stare at when I am feeling too lazy to go into the garage.

UT have made it in 1/18 scale, about 10 years ago.
What/ who are UT? Is there a website?

Did BBurago not produce F355 models?

If you have the money then Amalgam do hand built 1/8 scale cars , but they are very pricey!

You were not exaggerating when you said pricey. Blimey! £3000-£6000 for models. You could pick up a Nissan Micra for that.

I had 5 or 6 BBurago 1:18 scale models as a teenager (every toy store and petrol station seemed packed roof high with them), and it was painful coming home to find that visiting younger family members had ripped off wheels or torn off doors. Naturally, mum would ensure the little darlings got the exact model they were looking for when pointing high up onto the cabinet.

My mum would not hesitate to hand over a 3 grand Amalgam model to be tested by the latest generation of 5 year old brats.

My cousin has one and i always thought it would look great on an 8th scale RC chassis, Obv not extremely detailed or in perfect scale. they come up on ebay occasionally
Definitely big!
I will be polite and say on this occasion that I will pass on that wobble.

DrYazz: Hopefully from what's been posted on here you will have gathered that the UT is the best 1:18 die cast there is for general display purposes. If you visit London and want to see some even larger scale model hand built Ferraris drop into St Martins Models in St Martins Lane. Be prepared for prices around £3,000+.
I'll certanly do that, thanks. Will be in London at the start of June. Sounds like a good day out.

For me biggrin.

Not for the wife biggrin.

Well, I got a 1:18 red UT F355 Berlinetta off the interweb thingy.

Got to say, not overly impressed. I have a Bburago 1:18 Ferrari 348 TB and I expected the UT F355 to be more detailed and of higher quality. It isn't.

The luggage compartment at the front does not open.

Brake discs have no detail at all on them.

The rear tyres have the same width as the front!!!

Anybody know of a model other than a UT to go for?
