Here are some pics of models that caught my eye (for various reasons) taken at my first visit to a model show. I enjoyed it, and felt very much at home mingling with the 'distinctive' smelling, Star Wars t-shirt wearing nerds. Can't wait for Cosford!

I thought exactly the same: The Seafire is way overdone on the weathering, particularly the cannon smoke stains. Easily done though. Shame really.

It's not just torque that's the issue, it's the gyroscopic effect of a huge prop tending to yaw the aircraft when the tail lifts on take off.

The torque effect was used to good effect in aircraft like the Sopwith Camel, which made rolls in one direction much faster than in the other.

What is the aeroplane in the 7th photo down that is a flying wing shape.

as a side note I had no idea some one would sell models that look as good as that for £10, wish I had been there to get a couple.
The bases probably cost £10 alone.

Love the Typhoon (?) with the invasion stripes. Really give the impression of being hand painted in the field, as they were, rather than the usual pristinely masked, surgically precise renditions seen on too many models.

Some lovely stuff on display. Thanks for posting.
No worries!

I always have a problem with wavy invasion stripes. I know some were like that, but is always looks to me like whoever built the model couldn't paint.

I'd like to see the completed finish on the 'worst example' picture. The lines look straight enough to me, an if you scaled them down 72 times they'd look *much* better than if you attempted them by hand on a model. Assuming the markings were touched in afterwards, and consider it looks like it *may* be a scrap or decoy airframe (no canopy, no aerial) , and that example actually starts to look pretty good in reality.
