Thanks for the nice comments. For the sea I used ready mixed grout/tile cement, which I had lying around. This was then plastered around the partially completed model, which was covered in clingfilm. When the grout had set sufficiently the model was removed. Once completely set I used artists acrylics to paint the sea with various mixes of blues, purples and greens, with white for the breaking crests. The indentation of the model was partially filled with scenic water and the model placed into it filling the surrounding gap between the model and the grout. More scenic water was then dripped into any voids, particularly around the bow wave. When that had set I then painted the wake and the water around the sub.

Perdu, the Sunderland is from L'Arsenal and is 1/350th scale, as is the sub, which is from Hobbyboss. The gun crews aren't missing, they're lying around their guns, having been shot by the forward guns of the plane. You can just see them in the last picture.

When I get round to it I'll have a little plaque made as I'm going to call this "Caught Out". the story being that the Sunderland has dropped through the clouds, taken out the gun crews and is getting ready to drop it's depth charges/bombs.
