Technomatt, you've clearly got some hate for the Clio 197/ 200.
Care to tell the people why ?
And while you're on the subject give us your alternative choices to the Renaultsport.
I'm sure everyone will be waiting with baited breath.![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
Gone very quiet. He's probably going through all your old threads just like he did mine. Not answered my question either about his Elise and Clio driving experience. Care to tell the people why ?

What's your point? The Clio must be a better and faster track car than the Elise because you have driven them.
Matt, every time somebody has asked what your beef is with the 200 (and indeed, Renault in general), you've quite expertly dodged the question. Now you've started another thread berating the new 200.
So I ask again, what's with all the hate? From someone who claims never have owned a previous 200, I don't see why you are determined to prove everyone wrong. What have you got to prove?
Personally, I'd be more concerned with a car I actually own...

I've updated my PH Garage for you to confirm my interest in Renault. So I ask again, what's with all the hate? From someone who claims never have owned a previous 200, I don't see why you are determined to prove everyone wrong. What have you got to prove?

I sold my R27 on Saturday with nearly 76k on the original gear box and lots of aggressive shifts.
Matt, your life must really be insanely dull to keep reviving a thread with an example of ONE person having a failed box each time.
I only revived it because a new 2012 replacement gearbox under 1 year old has also failed.Matt, your life must really be insanely dull to keep reviving a thread with an example of ONE person having a failed box each time.
Sort of blows that rumour some are so keen to cling onto and push with zero evidence, that post 2010 gearboxes are 'modified'.

Where are you 'finding' all this stuff?
Care to post up some actual evidence?

Plus there is still ZERO evidence of any gearbox mod.

Just seen an owner that has a gearbox that was new and replaced in Sept 12 that now has shot synchros. That was after 4000 miles.
So much for that great gearbox modification theory.![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Perhaps he needs to learn how to change gear then....So much for that great gearbox modification theory.

That's a good point Carl, wonder how many blown boxes are down to repeated ham-fisted shifts?Matt, the fact that a new 'box was fitted in 2012 and then failed still proves nothing. "If" there is an upgraded 'box available, it doesn't mean one was fitted to that car does it?
If anything, given how such companies work (it's not just Renault, most arethe same) I'd expect they'd still try and clear their stock of the potentially duff 'boxes first.
Maybe that's why my local dealer chose to rebuild rather than replace.
More importantly, why t. f. am I even getting involved in this thread?!

Despite Technomatt's obvious problems I'm pretty sure that is a load of tripe.

So the new line is..... 'they are clearing out old gearbox stock'. Matt, the fact that a new 'box was fitted in 2012 and then failed still proves nothing. "If" there is an upgraded 'box available, it doesn't mean one was fitted to that car does it?

After 13 pages in this thread don't you think it's about time you chaps actually put something up to show there IS a gearbox mod? Zip so far.
I'm still confused Matt, as to why you're so keen on this issue? If you've not personally had trouble, why are you trying to fight this cause? Especially if you've had no experience with the car yourself? Are you trying to be some sort of consumer champion or something?
You may own a Megane, but that's an entirely different box and the gearboxes on the Megane have proved to be quite reliable so far. Also, the way you bang on about Renault, I'm surprised you have one at all since you seem to have nothing but complaints about them - especially the Clio 200 EDC, which I assume you haven't driven?
