The Alcantara upholstery sounds much more appealing than leather: I'd be interested to try it. When I went to the DS configurator the only colour interior I could get with the 225 bhp engine was black which is not something I would want to live with as I don't care for gloomy places. The car in the pic has a brown interior.

The advantage is a light grey and it feels far from gloomy. I have seen the black leather, which I didn't like, a red leather which was nice. In the showroom they have an 'Opera'which has a brown leather trim and sunroof. It's fully loaded and very nice indeed. None of them feel dark inside in the way that, for instance, an Evoke does.
With my deal I can change/ upgrade after 2 years which is when they are told the hybrid will hit the market.
I did think about the depreciation angle but this is a 4 year plan taking me to 61 years old. I may well love it so much I just hang on to it. There again I have a guaranteed future value to use against something else. For the moment though I'm just going to enjoy something that feels very modern.

Won't you be in neg equity after 2 years ? And even after 4 years you might be in neg equity even with a guaranteed future value
depends how you look at it I suppose. The only reason for changing after 2 years would be to upgrade to another DS7, like the hybrid. On that basis I would expect a good deal from DS.Who knows about the end of term position. I don't buy cars with that in mind. I am purely thinking about enjoying a nice car. I don't say that to be flippant but one can over think these things sometimes and run the risk of never doing anything. Its the silver car syndrome. Buy a silver car because it sells better then buy a used silver car because it sells better. Result, lots of silver cars that noone actually likes but can't get away from.
I hate silver cars, literally and metaphorically. That's why I'm an Alfa and Saab owner and shortly to be DS owner.

How refreshing, well said! Who knows about the end of term position. I don't buy cars with that in mind. I am purely thinking about enjoying a nice car. We only live once, and if you can afford to take the financial hit, why not drive the car you want rather than the one everyone tells you to.
I own a bright yellow Cactus and a Caterham Seven.

Slightly O/T but - a DS dealer told me last week that the DS4 and DS5 have both been dropped and are no longer available to order. They do not have details of any replacements yet.
Still on the website config, but the prices have gone awol... http://www.dsautomobiles.co.uk/ds-store/configurat...
DS5 replacement is going to be the 508 that's been trailed - Pug badge first, later this year, then DS, then Opel and Citroen within the following year or two.
DS3 replacement's also imminent - C3 Aircross/CrosslandX restyle.
Now that's kind of my point.
Does your Cactus have the brown bubble wrap on the sides? Hope so. :-)
No accountant buys one. Someone who likes them buys one and the point is that it will be enjoyable.
Imagine a world where we all drove grey A3s. Not quick ones, but ones with sensible extras that add to resale value. I am a suburban man in fear of being a suburban man. I have many dear friends who care not a jot about cars. That are simple tools to get from home to Waitrose via B and Q. They have a 'station car for fear of the main car being scratched but don't know its called a 'shed'.
They are not petrolheads, they are not Pistonheaders.
Vive La Differance!

Well said! I totally agree. No accountant buys one. Someone who likes them buys one and the point is that it will be enjoyable.

Out of interest I just checked 'how many left' for DS7s.
5 registered and 0 with my engine choice! How many on PH will be able to say they have the only one!
I think that's good fun. That's probably because I am 9% French according to my DNA.
Excellent. One more nicely specced petrol in circulation for future s/h buyers.5 registered and 0 with my engine choice! How many on PH will be able to say they have the only one!

The hybrid drivetrain is also interesting - 296bhp all in.
Like the sound of those dampers - do they all come with them or is it and option?
I saw someone mention a V6 way above - I just looked on the DS website and it appears they are only doing I4 engines on these (in the UK at least). It seems a retrograde step when every premium Citroen since the SM has had a V6 (later years diesel only).
People who buy big expensive French flagship cars are usually French and/or into their cars. A DS7 is not a sensible choice, you buy one because you want one so why no better engines?
I think they may have missed a trick with the engine choice, surely they could have kept the arrangement with JLR going to get a new V6.
