Hi

I bought a Peugeot 207 Allure Auto 1.6 VTi Petrol just under a year ago, its a 2011 model and has done 28,500 miles, the Car was serviced (minor) October 2017 by the local Peugeot dealer.

In recent weeks, I have noticed occasional small pools of oil when parked and marks on the road following the movement of the car when driving slowly, but was hard to say if it was the car as lots of oil marks on roads. Last week the Oil Warning message came on at startup, so I added around 1.5 litres of oil and the warning has gone off.

Last week the Car was MOT and it passed, with no advisories, I mentioned the oil leak and they said they hadn't seen any issues, so I presumed it was ok.

The last week I have noticed larger pools of oils when parked up sometimes, sometimes there is no oil, so it's really intermittent, one thing I have noticed is that it seems to leak when the car is parked facing down a slope. I parked on a car park today and checked there were no oil marks where I parked, it was on a slight slope, when I came back after 30 minutes there was a patch of oil and it had started to run in a line down the slope, so defo looks like it's leaking oil. I drive to work daily, around 250 miles per week and the car is performing ok.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what could be causing this? I've read a few posts about Head Gaskets going on the 1.4 model, but mine is 1.6. The car is out of warranty as it's 7 years old, but the mileage is very low for it's age, I am considering taking the car to a garage, am I best with the Peugeot dealer? as quite a few people are reporting Head Gasket is a known issue, so Peugeot have repaired for free? but I know dealers will be allot more expensive if I have to pay.

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks, I did put quite abit of oil in it as I was 200 miles from home when I got the oil warning message, so I quickly bought 4L of oil and put about 1.5-2 litres in, I kept checking starting the car until the oil warning message stopped appearing and it said oil ok, even though the dipstick showed it looked ok, so maybe I put abit too much in?

When you say check coolent for Mayo, do you mean in the coolent bottle? (sorry don't know much about engines!)

Your description of this leak suggests a rusted sump to me.

Corrosion (from the outside of course) can form pin holes that don't leak consistently.
Thanks, booked it in at my local garage to take a look, hopefully nothing too expensive!

The garage did ask if I had been using air conn allot, I don't usually use it, but the last few weeks in UK have been really warm, so it has been on constantly, so could be related to air con, I presumed Oil as I did top it up last week when I got the oil warning light.
