Since my back-box decided to have a little argument with the tarmac earlier today I figure that I better get something new, as right now the Clio sounds like a Nova with a aftermarket baked-bean exhaust kit.

Any recommendations of something that will sound fruity, last well and possibly add a few bhp?

Curiously, after placing the back-box in the boot didn't seem to lose any power, but gained 0.6 mpg on the way home, so I guess something freer flowing might be in order...

Cheers guys, am still looking but haven't yet decided as there are so many mixed reviews on cliosport.net, whatever it seems that a back-box by itself is not something I'll be able to go for, as the only ones I've seen are twin pipe below the bumper affairs.

My preference is to keep the look of my little Q car rather than Chav it up (I've seen a 4" exhaust pipe model!), so to that end the the KTR stealth seems to be the best choice (£299), although I've heard mixed reviews, so have not fully decided yet...

Otherwise a recessed unit might be the way to go (£325 for the KTR one), not really interested in 182 style twin pipes (£370 for the KTR ones), after all the 172 Cup was the leaner and meaner car, adding extra pipes would only increase its weight

Blueflamne have their £235 deal available through clipsport.net but I've heard a few bad things about them, and their website says they are sole provider for TVRs exhaust, which given the quality of some of those is not a good selling point!

Other options are YozzaSport at £399, Magnex at £339 and ProSpeed at £318.

The problem with the exhaust isn't so much the loudness but the way it drones on the motorway. I don't mind a loud exhaust
That tends to be the way I think of it, a V8 or straight 5 will always sounds good so amplify it, but a 4-pot drone from an engine designed for shopping trollies never going to be that musical, so a little but of grunt through the induction and exhaust system is all I want to hear when I'm having fun, as most of the time I'd rather listen to the stereo.

(I was looking at getting a de-catted Cerby with sports pipes!)
A very good choice indeed, although the bloke who bought mine didn't think so and re-catted it banghead

PS 350wedge, cheers for the text mate.

Funny though that the ones who slag them off have a vested interest in selling their own exhaust systems.
To be fair it was a mate who warned me off them as he had problems with mine, I also worried when I visited the Bluefame website and they mentioned they are sole creators of TVR exhausts... I know these have had a number of issues on recent models, so that didn't fill me with confidence either.

I'm thinking pretty much KTR stealth at this point, just need to find somewhere local to get it fitted and I'll be sorted for next week.

Definitely going for the Mk2 KTR stealth now, as reports (and KTR's info) say it is less boomy than the Mk1 so sounds ideal.

Just come back from having it fitted at my local garage and giving it a bit of a hoon - am impressed so far.

While it sounds a bit quieter than I expected (possibly as I'd got used to the extra noise of the dying OEM backbox) is got an aggresive wail at around 4000rpm, but having found a local airfield to experience 3 figures I caa report that it's not boomy at all, as wind and tyre noise takes over well before that point.

All told, the exhaust (with 5% cliosport.net discount), fitting and my donation to that crook at #11 was £391, a bit more than I'd expected to pay originally (just wanted a back box), but it's a quality bit of kit and should survive a lot better than the soft steel rubbish Renault supplies.
