Things just got interesting for 1/2 hour on www.renaultsport.co.uk

Someone managed to obtain the specification of the forthcoming meagne r26-r

All I can say is flippin heck what a car.

Within 30 mins every thread was removed and as soon as we posted a new one it was pulled.

Well

230 bhp
2 Seater
Semi Slicks an option
Carbon Bonnet
No cruise control
Black or Red 18" wheels
Polycarbonate rear screen
Carbon Fibre Sebfelt seats with 6pt harnesses

There was more than this, but this was all I could accurately translate from Swiss to English.

The performance graph before it was pulled showed it was up against some pretty serious kit. The weight saving was around 125 kgs.

The fact it was all pulled would suggest it was true, especially as it is a renault owned forum.

Looks like it will be for the hardcore enthusiast only.

I think it is a car that is not going to appeal to the average Megane 225/R26 owner.

A bit like a GT3RS doesn't appeal necessarily to the average carerra 2 owner.

The R26-R is going to be a much more hardcore piece of kit.

My opinion is it'll be too hardcore, won't sell many, then in years time they will be highly saught after just like 964RS's and such.
I think your right.

Chances are it'll also be considerably more expensive new than an R26, which will put a lot of people off and boost it's exclusivity.
In Switzerland I think if has an 8,000 Swiss Fr premium. Wouldn't have a clue how that translates into english money.
