You would have known by the Mulsanne thread that my new Bentley has arrived! The Phantom has gone but will be shortly replaced by a new RR Dawn, there was a huge warranty bill on the Phantom just before Xmas and the deal with the Mulsanne was too tempting, our worry was keeping the Phantom longterm because of the warranty issues that its had, although its been great since xmas without fault. But I will take a new Phantom as soon as they get launched, and keep the Bentley more as everyday it was such astonishing value.
Sounds like a wise move, I know you've had your ups and downs with the Phantom.... So how are you finding that beautiful new car, that I so very nearly bought??Any notes to compare??? Mine has been back to the garage a couple of times so far, with only very minor faults (teething problems), I do find it sometimes a little jerky / clunky on gear changes at very low speeds in slow moving traffic, have you experienced this??
Other than that, I'm loving it......
Its not has much use, small problem with the keyless entry and the car recognising the key, but they sent the technician from Harwoods the following morning (300 miles round trip) who rectified it all on the drive within the hour, the jerkiness comes with the 8 speed box and also affected the Phantom, something we never had with the series 1 Phantom or our Final series Arnage, my personal view is that these cars with huge engines and massive reserves of torque do not need the 8 speed gearbox, less cogs would make for a smoother ride in slow traffic.
Mine has the Naim system which I now remember from when we had a last Arnage, hugely powerful but a rather detached and disconnected sound it's a very bright system that lack depth and warmth.

Byteme seems to have knack of killing threads!!
Maybe but I am always fascinated by what he has to say and value his inputAfter all, it would be a very dull forum if everyone had the same views.... Furthermore, I'm sure I'm right in saying that neither myself, nor WelshBentleyBoy would want to discourage Byteme from contributing.

Really pleased to read your comments on the gearbox, I thought there was something wrong with mine...... It's not really bad but it is more noticeable than the gear changes on my 10 year old 4.4 petrol Range Rover (worth about £10k), I guess I'll get used to it though.
Please keep me updated on your ownership experience, likewise I will you also.... Maybe detail this in a new thread, perhaps titled: "2016 Bentley Mulsanne Ownership"

This may have gone over your head but this, once again, is twenty year old technology. Prior to "tablets" engineers had access to pens and paper. If your point is that the people who work in this field are stupid and could benefit from your fantasies you're mistaken. You may well believe that technology didn't exist before you were born but more than fifty years ago engineers were designing systems to put men on the moon. When your expertise compares to them you may have something to contribute. You may have a degree in media studies but I was working on vehicles in the 90s that had workshop manuals that extended to 6000 pages. YES six thousand!
One contributor may have more knowledge and experience than others but there are ways of expressing this which are less offensive than the above statement. The author of this opinion has been equally opinionated on other sites and incurred the wrath of their administrators with the ultimate sanction. Please let us have a responsible exchange of fact and opinion with an acceptable level of courtesy and respect to all contributors

It's shame, because I think Byteme does have some very interesting insight to give, particularly on the SZ era cars (1980 - 2002, spirit, spur, Turbo R, Continental R) but he just cant help but give it in the wrong way. He got banned from www.rollsroyceforums.com
Seems to me owning this type of car is like having a pet dog. Once the emotional bond is made it doesn't matter how often you visit the vet you're morally obligated to pay the expensive bills.
I don't know how dazzalse made his money to afford this car but I'm sure if one of his business assets was this unreliable it would be swapped out.
We're about to be inundated with programmes about Tim Peake but I'd prefer a fly on the wall documentary following this Roller to Portugal because it's more exciting edge of the seat stuff.

bit strange that there will be no Phantoms available in 2017 and its replacement not due until 2018 ? cant recall this happening before with a car. ?
Also were the coupes and Dhc really selling so badly that they are not making replacement for them ?
What issues do people think should be addressed in Phantom replacement ? , a less marmite front end for one !
