I love the camargue, have done since i was a kid, where can i find one for sale?? what are they like to live with?

Thanks

This one's for sale, I need to make space for some new additions to my little stable! I bought it about 18 months ago, and I've done about 100 miles in it! I've spent over 5 grand on brakes and getting the interior right amongst many other things but I just don't get time to drive it!
There were only 539 made of which 172 are RHD.
I love the Camargue, I remember seeing it as the star of the 75 Motor Show, it had the 1st bi-level a/c, the longest doors on a production car and an interior modelled on a Cessna aircraft! It was also the world's most expensive production car,I've got the original invoice for £30,159.18 in 1976!!!!

Whats the hourly rate at P&A, or are they coy about that?

Happened to come across a more detailed invoice this evening, so can tell you that in June 2005 they were charging 'mechanical labour' at £70 per hour and 'coachwork' at £55.

Probably too late to be of any help; but at least it's an answer to the question!

p.s. sorry to hear of your problems with check engine light; I never had that - but on the last two cars had infuriating problems with 'check gearbox ' light, it used to restrict you to second gear if I remember - not much point in having 420bhp and only 2 gears all the way back from Le Mans as happened one year.

V12, thanks for the info -- certainly not too late. I am going to be keeping this car for a long time, so knowing who is around here is a good thing.

Bentley Essex put the second wastegate in today -- touch wood, no problems so far.

I also spoke to the chap at Phantom Motor Cars today -- seemed to be a fine chap. Have ordered a few trinkets for the car (the mulliner fuel cap, and a set of red tyre valve caps to match the red highlights on the car). Might well go for the 18" Continental T wheels and the 285/45/18 tyres, but its a 5 grand indulgence.

I plan to drop into PMC in the next few weeks to see them, anyway. I also plan to drop in to see my mate Lincoln Scott who is without doubt the greatest interior trimmer in the world for Astons -- I've got a few ideas I'd like him to play with on the RT. www.lincolnscott.com/

Glad the info is of use - I knew I had seen the rates somewhere amongst my paperwork.

The mulliner fuel cap sounds great - how much do they charge for that?

I had a look at Lincoln Scott site - impressive work. I could do with some extra pads on my rear headrests (headrest cushions I think they call them)as the headrests are too far back and are non adjustable so I may well give them a call.

The 18" T wheels are exactly what the RT needs - they look great - I always felt that the standard RT wheels were a bit disappointing.....shame about the cost!

thankx v12

mulliner fuel cap is silly money -- 190 quid or so. But seemed lovely

Lincoln is world class -- people fly him to usa etc to do trim work.

wheels -- i might indulge -- its just what a black rt needs :-)

oh, and laugh of the morning -- letter from bentley essex. They are offering to do an aircon "decontamination server" for 100 quid. And a regas for 285... ummmm

That's what I have got on my car, but I had a lucky break and managed to obtain a set of used ones with new Pirellis that had only done a few practise laps of Silverstone, bit of a bargain by all accounts.

You could see what are available used from Phantom or Montague & Co.

how much stiffer is the ride on 45 profile compared to 55?

I think those are actually the SC wheel rather than the T -- the SC has the stripe down each spoke, whereas the SC doesnt (according to the pmc website)

no, im wrong -- it was used on the sc and t

now, do I prefer the smooth ones or the ribbed ones?

looking at the pic, it looks like you have 255 tyres rather than the 285 that can be fitted

why did you stick to 255 when you could have gone to super-sticky 285?

I bought them secondhand and so didnt have a choice, 255/45x18 were on the wheels when I bought them, the tyres were more or less brand new and the wheels were about two years old. £1000 the set

TBH they are just a bit too big for the car, Bentley Luxembourg told me they really shouldnt be on the car. The suspension does tend to struggle to catch up with them sometimes, in mass terms. I think 285 might require a bit of inner panel modification with a hammer too.

They have killed the ride, but the grip is amazing and no more waiting for the slop in the sidewalls to be taken up, turn in is really crisp now, getting Mulliner front & rear anti-roll bars next.

interesting - pmc told me that there is no need for panel mods for the 285s, but you put limit stops on the steering rack (which effectively does the same thing because the tyre can foul on the subframe apparantly)

Smooth ones!! But either look great.

The smooth ones have a removable plate over bolts and the recessed hub from memory

They are exactly the ones that I had in mind - very easy to keep clean as well (had them on my Conti R Mulliner).

They would look great on your black RT

I went last week to collect my mulliner fuel cap - and it's great!

Did you go for the wheels yet?

Havent gone for wheels yet -- at the last server (8 weeks ago at Phantom) it needed 4 tyres, new front suspension, new front shocks etc. Came in around 10k. So dropping 5k or so on a set of wheels and tyres was put on hold. Especially as I think Compomotive can do me a set of billet wheels for 1k for 4 (well, thats what they have quoted for my Aston Vantage). I know the factory has the wheels in stock, but the price is just stooopid

Hi All

lurke on this forum but don't post much. My Royce is a 1980 silver shadow 11 in Royal Garnet and still looks good after only 80k miles. Currently rebuilding the back brake callipers and suspension height control valves and replacing all the brake pipes ready for Le Mans .Also got to replace a out put shaft seal on the diff as its started to leak due to lack of use.
Haven`t had much time to drive it in the last 2 years and so far have done only 600 miles in it and in that time have fully serviced the car twice, rebuilt the front brakes, fitted a s/steel exhaust, changed the gear box filter and had the Air con rebuilt.

Hopefully get over to PistonFest to bed the brakes in before the MOT.
Marc
