RE: Tuner tweaks the Flying Spur
Discussion
I am not a big fan of the Flying Spur (although have yet to drive one - but am going to Millbrook next Monday to rectify that).
Don't fancy the Germans take on it at all.
I agree; if you want huge BHP, buy something else.
In standard form, it is, allegedly, an amazing car - at least in terms of performance - although it's like a big VW inside.
The whole point of these cars is that they were the finest gentlemans club on wheels (and that they were unique - i.e. no bmw or vw bits)- the interior was bespoke - and that you forgave the car for a few shortcomings.
All of that has been turned upside down; they over achieve in performance terms, but they seriously under achieve in the interior 'feel good' factor - and at this level, it's terribly important.
If it wasn't, everyone should just go and buy an M5.
I think that it (the German version) looks really 'over blinged' and pointless.
Go for a Mulliner version if you really need to.

Far too much bling for such a prestige marque! Being able to have the car in any colour you like from the factory as well as the Mulliner packages should be enough to individualise such a great car. TG mag and the Bentley web site states the Continental GT 0 - 60 as 4.7secs and the top speed as 198mph anyway - Flying Spur faster than that again. Wouldn't spend any money to make it accelerate slower and do 1mph more!

Bentley: made by Germans for Americans.
yup, itsa bigger Chrysler 300C. Minus the taste, decorum and restraint.....ouch!
Have never liked the GT or Flying Strumpet, as their basic proportions are poo. The VW D1 platform is 4wd with a huge front overhang. It needs to be like the Arnage: Rear wheel drive, short front overhang and long bonnet (in fact like a proper Bentley). I say what a shower (cue wing co ten forth accent etc Terry Thomas Horatio Smythe..........)

Yep, I was sure I didn't imagine it- see below link. Autocar manage to get the Flying Spur up to 208, four up, aircon on etc:

Loving the fact they actually under-sell the top speed figure for once.
