Good morning.
I have a question for a learned Bentley Continental owner.
Given you already have tools and a vaspc in the boot. If whilst you were touring the EU a check engine light came on for an engine sensor, which sensors on the engine can be changed without removing the engine.
I was thinking of:
CTS
Mass Air Charge
Cam Position
Boost Control Valve
AIT's
EGT's
Any others?

I think, if I had to, I could change a spark plug or coil pack whilst away.

The reason I ask, is that my Wife and myself love EU driving holidays and cover a good 5000 to 7000 miles per year . I have been a member of the AA for 40 years now and find them "ok" but even so it can take 3 weeks to have your car repatriated from the EU. It would relive the worry and pressure if you knew the main engine sensors could be replaced without removing the engine. This gives either yourself an opportunity to fix the issue or a local garage. It would be well worth the cost of holding spares in the boot

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Frank.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
The issue with a lot of older continental GT's is the age of electrical sensors, wiring and modules.
I have had a coil pack fail an EGT sensor and SAI flow sensor failure in the past.
Thats what made me think about on board spares.

The problem with that is, even with the best breakdown and recovery it comes down to this.
A. Can the car be fixed at the side of the road if not
B. Can a local garage fix the problem and how long would it take for them to get arround to it.
C. Recovery back to the uk which can take 2 to 3 weeks dependant or how far your into europe

No matter which your Bentley driving holiday is at an end unless you can have a go your self.
At least having a small spares package might make it more palatable for a local garage to have a go.
Even if you were recovered to a local or nearest Bentley dealer, they are not gauranteed to drop every thing to start your car??
