I'm seriously considering a Continental GT as a second car. I got an 06 model offered with 50k miles at a very attractice price. Are there any issues with GTs beyond what you'd anyway expect of a car with higher milage?

Thanks for your advice

Thanks for your comments. I'd definitively put the car on warranty. Resale issues given it's already high milage are my biggest concern with this deal. Let's see

Decision has been taken and I'll pick up my new toy tomorrow.

It's an all-black (outside and inside) GT with Mulliner package. I changed from the original Mulliner 20" wheels (which look a bit too "pimp my ride" for my taste) to other Bentley 19" of similar but more subtle style.

Thanks for the help. Dr S

Mike,

sorry for the late reply.

Got my new baby about a month ago and am very happy. I only use it on weekends for longer trips. Already did a 500 mile roundtrip the other weekend.

Bought the car from a dealer with warranty, covering about anything on the car. I plan to put in on Bentley's used car warranty once it's out of its current warranty.

It's a great and effortless drive. Of course, it's more at home on German Autobahn (surfving on waves of torque and power wink) than your typical B road. However, it amazes me how the car comes alive when pressing on. The only downside IMHO is the steering which is too indirect and lacks feel.

Go for it! thumbup

MY 04/54 conti gt has now done 57000 miles.i have owned it from 35000 miles, nearly 2 years and have had minimum aggro.service history is very important. i have no rust and the best all round tyres are pirelli p zero. over 20k miles on these. these cars are not dropping around the £40k mark as they are fantastic value.try to buy classic colours with a sensible interior.avoid bright red and light wood for better resale. Harry.
To me it actually was a big plus that there is quite a bit of VW in this car as it makes a hassle free ownership experience much more likely.

I also have the P Zeros on mine. Harry, do you use Winter tyres at all and which would you recommend?

I do not change the pirellis in the winter. also being four wheel drive the grip is great. harry.
Well, four wheel drive does not help you when braking and very little when cornering, unless you use appropriate rubber. I don't get why people save money on Winter tyres (which are superior in cold conditions as well as in the snow because they have been designed for it) after having spent well beyond 100k on a car.

Also it really annoys me if people on Summer tyres a(lso in 4WD cars) block the streets that are easy to drive at a decent pace in my RWD 997S on Winter tyres. Last but not least, if in Switzerland you are caught in an accident in the Winter months you are by law at least partially guilty getting problems with your insurance.
