I've got a 2007 Cooper with the Chilli Pack and standard chrome grille...

I've ordered a cooper/one aero grille along with the black trim surrounds, but I'm having second thoughts about the surrounds, maybe keeping the chrome would look better due to the chrome on the rest of the car? What does everyone think?

I'd go as far as saying that the chrome grill looks better than black will, as you've nothing else black on the car other than the arches.

If you had black mirrors or a black roof then I'd expect it would then tie in with the car more, but thats just my personal opinion.

Hehe, Have you been looking at threads on M2! lol its a minefield! Anywho, I have had all combos.... and I finally settled on the JCW aero with Black surrounds. :-) I like it, The only thing I disliked on the R56 is chrome grille its just far too big!

At some point i need to remove the lower Chrome... but cant be chuffed at the moment. lol

I did have the chrome surrounds on for a while. Looked fine, I just prefer black surrounds. I dont really notice the lower chrome anymore anyway.

Looking again at your car, Rakey is right, not sure what it would look like with a red roof. Try chrome first then go from there. :-)

Thanks for the input smile

I'm not quite sure how it'll look, but I'm also not a big fan of the huge chrome grille. There's a fair bit of black on the car with the arches, pillars and lower grille, side repeaters etc so hopefully black with chrome trim won't look too odd.

I'll post some fitted photos once it's on and if it really doesn't work it can go on ebay.

If I'd specced the car from new I probably would have gone for a black roof if I was going for red, but I'm pretty chuffed with the rest of the car so I can't really moan.

Just spotted this red One on mini2 with a black chrome combo, doesn't look so bad...

Could work though if you do the lower grill too, and the side light surrounds in black.

Plastidip is a good way to de-chrome the car wink

I would stick with the chrome as you have body colour roof/mirrors...

I had that chrome and black grille combo first looks fine. If you really want a black roof, you could always get wrapped, and swap the caps for black. Im sure MINI pirate could sort you out.

I've already been in touch with them for a quote, but was told they aren't taking on anymore work at the moment as they're in the process attempting to put together a rescue plan for the business frown

Excellent! It was back in Jan when I got in touch with him so I'm pleased things worked out. He quoted £240 + VAT to wrap the roof, quite a few tricky cuts on mine because of the sunroof apparently. I did ask if the spoiler could be wrapped as well but he didn't mention it.

Anyway the grille and surrounds arrived today, I'll be giving the car a good wash and wax at the weekend and then I'll have a play around with different combinations. driving

Excuse the thread resurrection!

I finally got round to trying the black surround on the car today:

I wasn't a fan though, just doesn't work with having so much chrome elsewhere on the car. I put the chrome back on, the black surrounds will be on ebay, unless anyone here is interested? smile

Yep I think you're spot on. If you had a black roof and black bonnet stripes it would work better. Keep the chrome matey. :-)
