The large wheels and runflat combo are much better now than they used to be.

The first generation runflats like the old Pirelli Euforias they fitted on the 17s were truly dreadful.
Mines running p7 CINTURATO I wouldn't have them again when mpss and mps4 still exist
MPS4 is what mine is having when the Bridgestone R/Fs die - but it is running 284hp, and the runflats are a bit interesting in the wet.

Cravenspeed induction kit and a remap.

Oh, and JCW Pro wing mirrors, they add 10hp on their own.

Celtic Tuning, came out and did it, no problems and seems to do the trick. Putting the power down is interesting.

I bet that's great fun to drive driving I will certainly be looking at upgrading the performance on mine in the future, and that's one of the big reasons I've gone back to a Turbo.

Thanks, interesting pics. What size wheels is that 'Ring test car running?

SS7
They are 17" track spokes....
Big enough then; although I see the arches still have the little lip.

SS7
I have 17" wheels on my 2017 Cooper S and I think they look tiny, but I wouldn't want them any bigger because the ride is poor as it is even though they're non run flats, 18" wheels look much better for me but I bet the ride is almost unbearable.

I imagine that the 15/16" wheels with non run flats is the sweet spot in terms of ride/handling.
Am I correct in thinking the 15/16" wheels won't fix over JCW brakes? How about the regular Cooper/Cooper S?

SS7
16" is the smallest wheel diameter for the S, 17" for the JCW. Our S runs 17" MPSS in the summer and 16" WinterContacts in the winter...ride does not improve massively with the 16" wheels whereas ditching the runflats when we got the car made a huge improvement. Rear lights on that LCI JCW look interesting, hope there will be some more interesting colours and trims for the inside.

Apparently it's not quite that soon, March 2018 the LCI will be delivered - I'm surprised.

Although, some bits are filtering through already - new MINIs being delivered now have the new fuel gauge.

Any more news on the March 2018 cars?? I'm still debating a MCS/JCW fwd hot hatchback, vs another (bigger, heavier, faster, more expensive, rwd) M-Lite....

It looks like 2018 will continue the rollout of new features in the hatch line, rather than a step change on a particular date.

To quote http://www.motoringfile.com/2017/11/26/mini-2019-m...
"If you’re looking at a F55 (four door), F56 (hatch) or F57 (convertible) we’d recommend waiting for March production if you can. These changes aren’t revolutionary but they’re a strong evolution in technology, styling and of course transmissions. If you’re looking for more power your wait will be a bit longer but may also be worth it."
The waiting is for an engine refresh in 18Q3

BMW's latest (Dec'17) report has a strong focus on electrification.

But the German AutoBild site highlights a Mini Minor (shared platform with Toyota Starlet) in late 18, along with the elusive SuperLeggera hybrid roadster. If this is true (there's a lot of AutoBild bad CGI models in the pictures) the SL is a fabulous halo car, and the Minor would bring a city size car back into the range. Mini showrooms might get interesting again.

Ahh thanks.

I close look-see shows the website is listing the JCW with the 8 speed auto 'box, and it appears the 210bhp version has the DCT: https://www.mini.co.uk/en_GB/home/range/john-coope...

We have a 15 plate Cooper S, which we've been very pleased with, so much so, that we placed an order for a new one for March delivery last month. Then I saw this New Mini thread the other day, which I hadn't seen before!

I contacted the dealer on Tuesday, who said they're not aware when the upgrades will be released(well they would) but they're going to contact me next week.

We have the auto, which the salesman at the time told me was DCT. Obviously, it wasn't, but other than some jerkiness at roundabouts, has been very good. Will keep you posted on what my dealer tells me.

I was at a Mini dealer at the weekend. The Product guy mentioned that they were expecting BMW/Mini to release information on Wednesday concerning the Mini LCI/Facelift.

Yes, shoestring 7, that fits in with what my garage told me. They are going to advise me this week the latest position. I understand that column mounted shifters won't be available for the DCT on the sportier models to start with though.

Looks like the MINI configurator has giving up a small piece of information on the LCI car now;

If you select LED headlights with the cornering function, you now get a picture of the Union Jack tailights.

LCI UK launch now officially confirmed as 17th March 2018.

The motorfile link above has all the info, but here's the full UK press release, which confirms what will be standard spec, and what is changing in the option packs for the UK. As our specs are slightly different to the US.

A bit disappointed with the changes, but pleased to see LED headlights, MFSW and Visual BOOST as standard equipment, three things I wouldn't go without.

Now waiting for the rumored power increase for the Cooper, that might tip me towards finally getting one.

I wished I'd waited a little longer before getting my Cooper S now, I've got LED lights but I really like the new ones where the ring goes all the way around the light, and the rears look funky too.

I've got the new fuel gauge at least though! biggrin
