The large wheels and runflat combo are much better now than they used to be.
The first generation runflats like the old Pirelli Euforias they fitted on the 17s were truly dreadful.
Mines running p7 CINTURATO I wouldn't have them again when mpss and mps4 still existThe first generation runflats like the old Pirelli Euforias they fitted on the 17s were truly dreadful.

MPS4 is what mine is having when the Bridgestone R/Fs die - but it is running 284hp, and the runflats are a bit interesting in the wet.
I bet that's great fun to drive I will certainly be looking at upgrading the performance on mine in the future, and that's one of the big reasons I've gone back to a Turbo. shoestring7 said:

Thanks, interesting pics. What size wheels is that 'Ring test car running?

They are 17" track spokes....SS7

I imagine that the 15/16" wheels with non run flats is the sweet spot in terms of ride/handling.

Apparently it's not quite that soon, March 2018 the LCI will be delivered - I'm surprised.
Although, some bits are filtering through already - new MINIs being delivered now have the new fuel gauge.
Any more news on the March 2018 cars?? I'm still debating a MCS/JCW fwd hot hatchback, vs another (bigger, heavier, faster, more expensive, rwd) M-Lite....Although, some bits are filtering through already - new MINIs being delivered now have the new fuel gauge.

It looks like 2018 will continue the rollout of new features in the hatch line, rather than a step change on a particular date.

"If you’re looking at a F55 (four door), F56 (hatch) or F57 (convertible) we’d recommend waiting for March production if you can. These changes aren’t revolutionary but they’re a strong evolution in technology, styling and of course transmissions. If you’re looking for more power your wait will be a bit longer but may also be worth it."
The waiting is for an engine refresh in 18Q3
BMW's latest (Dec'17) report has a strong focus on electrification.
But the German AutoBild site highlights a Mini Minor (shared platform with Toyota Starlet) in late 18, along with the elusive SuperLeggera hybrid roadster. If this is true (there's a lot of AutoBild bad CGI models in the pictures) the SL is a fabulous halo car, and the Minor would bring a city size car back into the range. Mini showrooms might get interesting again.

I close look-see shows the website is listing the JCW with the 8 speed auto 'box, and it appears the 210bhp version has the DCT: https://www.mini.co.uk/en_GB/home/range/john-coope...

We have a 15 plate Cooper S, which we've been very pleased with, so much so, that we placed an order for a new one for March delivery last month. Then I saw this New Mini thread the other day, which I hadn't seen before!
I contacted the dealer on Tuesday, who said they're not aware when the upgrades will be released(well they would) but they're going to contact me next week.
We have the auto, which the salesman at the time told me was DCT. Obviously, it wasn't, but other than some jerkiness at roundabouts, has been very good. Will keep you posted on what my dealer tells me.

Yes, shoestring 7, that fits in with what my garage told me. They are going to advise me this week the latest position. I understand that column mounted shifters won't be available for the DCT on the sportier models to start with though.SS7
LCI UK launch now officially confirmed as 17th March 2018.
The motorfile link above has all the info, but here's the full UK press release, which confirms what will be standard spec, and what is changing in the option packs for the UK. As our specs are slightly different to the US.
