I have owned it for 10years plus and was fairly worn and a little bit tired. 1320 rebuilt it new rings forged Pistons, head skimmed and rebuilt.
Cannot explain how well it runs and how it feels genuinely better than when it was nearly new.
Twice a week I have a commute of about 60 miles all B roads no other car can make me smile as much as the mini.
How much did that cost if you don’t mind me asking?

Ii think it was about £2400 but that was a couple of years ago just priced it up via 1320 website and it was nearer 2600 but the car is a keeper. Seriously the best money I've ever spent on a car the engine is that good. Last year had new clutch and lightened flywheel and a hand made S/S. exhaust.
My car history includes a Porsche 930 turbo and an 16v integrale and I can honestly say the mini is as much fun as both of them

They are superb little things, mine was a drunk eBay purchase in lockdown when one of the only things you could do was go and buy a car, turned out it was actually quite tidy. When you drive modern cars now and step into it the lack of weight is really apparent. I still have mine completely stock as I was intending to play with it but life over the past 12 months has properly got in the way. So I have all the bits to upgrade it sat in boxes and 50/50 whether to carry on.

That's a hard one, seeing more and more stunning standard looking ones. They are definitely going to become classics so maybe keeping it stock is the way to go but you pays your money you makes your choice.

I don’t think a few choice mods will undermine the value at all in the future-the standard suspension is awful !!!

Mine has sports suspension+ ditching the run flats is the best thing I have found, with run flats it's truly awful ride.

Do you have standard top mounts as I seem to have to change mine twice a year.

Oh, I've got all that too, pulley, injectors, Newman P1/2 Cam, newly serviced teflon supercharger, bigger intercooler and not so hobo diverter, and Miltek Manifold, Sports car and exhaust.

It's all sat in boxes, I have been 50/50 whether to sell it all though to be honest as I am also trying to get a 997 C2S.... I know first world problems and all that.

Well if you want to sell any of it you know where to come as now looking at an r52 just for a bit of European touring so will have 2 minis.

That’s a nice lot of goodies!
If you get them all fitted it will be such a fun car to drive-you might not want the 911 lol

Just fit the pulley as a toe in the water, remove pollen filter, drop rear bench seats and go for a drive
If still 50/50 fit miltek cat back. If you don’t get it still your driving on the wrong roads
Everything thing else is icing on your cake, I did everything you possibly can to my r53 and plenty more besides over 145 k fun filled miles
sold on to a serial 911 owner after one 15 minute test drive….he got it….

Oh don't worry I totally get it, they're epic little things on the B roads which I love driving. The only thing I have fitted so far is Stealth Air Intake and K&N Filter, I love the supercharger whine, I did drive one with a Miltek on, and I seem to remember if overpowering the Supercharger noise which seemed a bit of a shame.

I mean, I'd love to keep it, will come down to time, but the ultimate 3 car garage, family wagon, 911 and a hot hatch.

For reference that isn't a bad line up and completely rational smile. We have a 4x4 wagon as workhorse, and I am considering a tuned MINI (had one before) to go alongside my weekend-only use Cayman. It's just a question of how much time you have to actually drive them all. I barely do much more than 1000 miles in the Cayman as it is, so I couldn't justify more than a few grand (including mods) for another car that might cover less than 1000 miles a year.

Maybe splitting use between summer and winter cars is the way to go, but really you are going to want to drive both in the nicer months.
I wouldn't talk you out of getting a 911, I would love a 997 next.

Funnily enough I’ve got a Cayman S as well-both this and the mini are weekend toys for me,I’m lucky that I get lent a van to do the commute to where I park my lorry
The mini is obviously the sensible family car lol
Saying that, despite it being lowered a decent bit,I can still squeeze to full grown adults in the back and not get any rubbing from the tyres.this car does everything I ask of it

Ha, we're all similar folk! I had a 987 Cayman S a few years back and have regretted selling it ever since, I love that era of Porsche, its modern enough to be properly useable and not a compromise and old enough to retain some of what's gone before. I had a 992 GTS for a few days and to be honest it was lovely but I was left a bit "meh"

The Mini was always meant to be a bit of a bit of a track car, but not strip it out so bare that it would be a pain just to take for a drive. The 997 will also be a bit a of a project, it'll go on a track, but I'd cry less into my cornflakes if I totalled a 5k mini than I would a 45k 997.

Family wagon I'm lining up a Golf GTD
