I have nothing against autos, I've had loads. However, a manual suits this car very well. It can be a bit notchy when cold, but you get used to the blipping, and the shift and clutch actions are excellent. A big factor in my choice was that the next generation probably won't have a manual option, the way things are going. Manufacturers are busy trying to get 10 speeds and more into automatic gearboxes just to reduce emissions by a fairly small real world amount. One day, manuals will be gone, in the same way that petrol engines are gone in a lot of cars already. The fun and character of many cars is fast being legislated into history. The JCW with the raucous exhaust is holding out. But for how long?
Excellent argument !

bks to the green tree huggers - manual and loud exhaust it is !! biggrin

Awesome! Will you get it on a 66 plate on 1 September then? I got mine at midnight on March 1 with the new plate. The dealer opened specially for me to collect it. They did kindly offer, so I took them up on the offer smile

Ah right. Well in my opinion you're much better off without age related numbers. I wish we didn't have them.

The dealer had a manual JCW shipped up from the south of the Netherlands for me yesterday. Needless to say - I made the right choice for myself speccing the manual gearbox.

And that JCW Pro exhaust . . . . . biggrin

Easy sorted, 4 cars, 4 private plates! Our JCW was delivered 31st July and we went straight off on holiday in it. I must admit I did tell the dealer that if it was delayed one day they could keep it a month!

Took it back a week later to get some fox damage sorted (chewed trim in their compound) to a shocked salesman when he saw it had 1700 miles on it.

Oh yeah evil

Mines run in now, couple of trips out and about including a North Wales mountain run..... absolutely brilliant but of kit, you wont regret it. Great choice of colour too, saw a Moonwalk with White Roof (Cooper S) in our dealer recently which looked very very cool, can only imagine it with a red roof - make sure you post some pictures when it arrives!

one other tip... make sure you ask the dealer for your standard exhaust back, you can get £80-£90 on ebay assuming you don't want to hang on to it for future resale wink

So a quick update on my order.
When placed the order (28th June) I was told 10-12 weeks delivery. Then I was told delivery on September 30th. Now it is October 13th.

Apparently the build was delayed at the factory due to the JCW Challenge orders . . . . . . . However I do know the car is in the Netherlands now as it was delivered early yesterday morning to the dealers storage place and I went to see it - still in its protective shipping film but looked stunning (No pictures unfortunately as it was in the middle of their very tightly packed storage area and I left my phone in the car frown )
But what I've seen so far - I am very happy !

It's now got to have all the carbon parts fitted, the front grill spots, the Pro exhaust fitted and tuned, and I ordered some JCW side stripes but the dealer said for the long wait they would get some custom side stripes made for me - and if I don't like them they will replace them for free. So lets see.

Car is being delivered on the 13th but I'll be away for work so will have to wait until I come back on the 15th.

Ive had my F56 JCW a month, and as its an ex demo car, didn't get to spec it myself.

Its got all the toys, HUD, Media pack, sat nav etc etc etc, I was at Sytner in Sheffield today, and top of the wish list would be the Pro exhaust, (can I convince the wife its a good idea at £1500)

Its my third hot mini, (R53 Cooper S - modified to 200bhp; R56 JCW) and certainly the hottest, but also the most refined. Refined isn't normally a term used to describe a sports car, but it is. A 140 mile journey is completed effortlessly, and I don't arrive feeling like I've been posted, but the back road blast, its a given you will emerge from the drivers seat grinning like a wking jap.

All I can say is 'do it'.

I picked up my new one on Friday, new JCW Convertible, Chilli Red with the Mini Yours Union Jack soft top.

This is my fourth MINI, and third convertible. After a mate bought an F56 JCW hatch a few months ago, I fell in love, so it had to be done.

Good spec with Chili Pack, Tech Pack, Media pack, black stripes and mirror caps, chrome line interior, heated screen, wind deflector, heated seats, piano black dash, glowing red colour line and the roof open timer.

Loving it so far, the exhaust noise with the roof down is sublime.

Lovely looking car - I did think about red but wanted the contrasting red roof and mirrors which is unique to the JCW. Love that convertible roof - quite subtle.

Leaving for a business trip to Asia today - but cannot wait to get back on the 15th and pick up my JCW !
